Orange/Rockland county surgeons

Hello, all I'm looking for a good surgeon in the orange county/rockland area. I have blue cross blue shield of new jersey (ppo). The one doctor that I was going to use out of whestchester medical center is booked and I am attending a seminar at good sam in suffern on wed....Has anyone used good samaritan to get their surgery done? I would like any info or feedback please. Thanks!

Hi Aly, I'm not sure if you have decided on gastric bypass (yuk) or the less invasive Lap Banding procedure? If your undecided I'd highly reccomend attending a free seminar from Dr. Peter Kwon, he is in Orange County and works out of Port Jervis and Arden Hill in Goshen. He also has a few support groups through out the county. Attending support group meetings is a very important to suceeding with WLS. If you have surgery in Rockland you will probably need to go to their meetings? Well good luck as I know it is a tough decision! I am scheduled for 1/25/06 with Dr Kwon! Kenny

Hi there When I started looking into surgery in Aug 2005 I wanted to do it all at Good Sam since I live down the street from there. Boy I am glad I changed my mind!! I tried to get a consult with Dr Fisher but she didn't have anything open till Dec!! So I went to see the ""other"" doctors that would have been able to do the surgery LAP. The dr was such and a$$. He was not compationate, was annoyed with all of my questions, no bedside manner, did not seem like he believed in what he was doing, seemed like he had very little experience in this surgery type, and seemed like allhe cared about was the money!!!! I did not like them!!! So I got a consult with a few other dr's in the city and went with Mt Sinai's Dr Kini who I thought is WONDERFUL!!! HOWEVER, Good Sam's coordinator Kathy is excellent and guided me through the process as well as the staff at Mt Sinai......I told Kathy about my concerns with the doctors in Bardonia. Dr Fischer's office called me in Dec to confirm my consult about the surgery.....I laughed and told them I had surgery Nov 18th Email me if you want dee dee

Hi Aly, Like others.. I would stay away from ALL hospitals and Dr's in Rockland... hey I live in Rockland... but I traveled to Manhattan.. My surgeon Dr. Kurian is AWESOME if you want to travel into the city. Here is the link to her website... www.nomoreobesity.com.... Talented.. and such good bed side manner.. something you really really need going through this journey. Hi, I met with Dr, Kurian in NOv of 2005. Yes, I doooooo agree she is the greatest person>I have no dought in her abilities as Surg. She is so Coool tool. The staff is wonderful. I am in the process, waiting phase,waiting to be approved by the insurance. Praying! MY WLS is Lap band.
