help please

Is there anyone, i mean anyone out there that has/had United Healthcare that was approved for Lapband surgery? I live in Georgia, and am curious because i was told that a lot of insurance companies will not support this surgery,because they feel as though this type of surgery is still relatively new. Even if there is/was someone out there that was denied, please email me with some information in reference to this. Hi Maria, I have United Healthcare PPO. When I was initally looking into WLS I was told by them they would cover the RNY and lapband as long as I had a BMI over 40 and that was it. They pretty much kept their word and never gave me problems. I know everyone plans varies so I would just call them up ask them what is in your plan. I know of someone who has UHC through the state or something like that and is having some trouble with them. My plan is through my husbands job at the largest medical publishing house so the premium is really high but has the most coverage of all of their plans. Good Luck! Tavia
