Hello all, I know I know we arent suppose to eat things like this(b/c of the acid) but what is worse to be 'naughty' with...an orange or a piece of pizza? come on now! I do just fine with OJ, just wondering what others experience has been eating citrus. I know I cant eat this now but I am planning for down the road. Thanks in advance! Tavia

Tavia, I ate a whole navel orange yesterday and last week I ate 3 Clementines. I don't think there is a steadfast rule about citrus. Sure, some people might have a problem with the skins around the sections getting stuck. I don't think the acid is a problem. If it was, we wouldn't be able to drink orange juice either. In your case, Sunshine, after your next surgery, I would ask the doc before I put anything like that in my mouth. Joanne

Joanne, Do you know I have to back on the full liquid, then mushy, then semi-soft etc etc diets just like the stages w/the first surgery? I mean I do understand why but man that sucks BIG time. I am going to lose so much! I never thought I would see the day where I would be eating Jello again. ick. Tavia

Tavia, I do not know of anything that was said not to eat those things, I do. I am fine with a 1/2 grapfruit or small orange. I guess it could be rough if you did not chew it enough but all is ok with it for me. I am sure you are SOOOOO looking forward to have some many things in your meal plan again. There are so many "good" and healthy things you will be adding. I wish you the best... ~hugs~ Debra P

Hi Tavia....I eat oranges and drink oj every day and i am less then 3 mths out. I dont have any problems with it at all. I told my nutrionist and she was fine with it too.....Oranges and OJ are very good ways of getting vitamins in and also preventing UTI's....People only thing of cranberry juice for that one but OJ is very good for that too! Hope your feeling good. LisaMarie

Hey Lisa, Thanks. I have been craving oranges/grapefruits lately, but I know that will not sit well right now...i dont want to do that to myself. The OJ seems to curb the craving alittle bit, but I want to chew!! Thanks a lot you are so great! Tavia

My nutritionist said the problem might be the small fibers of the fruit.....might cause irritation. I have had a section or two of an orange, and no trouble for me. SH

Hi Tavia! I haven't tried orange juice because I'm afraid of the sugar content....it seems so high! A few weeks ago I bought a crate of Clementines and enjoyed them--no problems. Erin
