SH,
Yeah I know, we really do have to thank the imspector but I guess that is why we pay him the big bucks to save us MORE. Thanks for all of your kind words here I am feeling better about NOT getting the house.
Thanks again ~Hugs~

Debra,
Sorry to hear about the house. It does suck. Obviously, there's something wrong with the septic or he'd let you go ahead & scope it. It's actually to his advantage to let you scope it, that way if there is a problem, he'll know. Either way the deal would be off. I would be thinking that this man isn't very honest & would be wondering if this is the only problem he isn't telling you about. Seriously, we live waaayyy upstate (North of Syracuse) and had a house in the country with a septic that went bad...IT WAS NOT PRETTY AT ALL.... Kind of pushed me away from septics all together. If you can find village or city sewer/water, I'd say go for that. There really is alot of maintenance that goes with a septic system. Although, if you get the right products and keep up with it, you shouldn't have any problems.
Good luck & keep your chin up.... It's disappointing now, but later on you'll be thankful.
Tammy
