hi , update

hey everyone, Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been struggling and had pretty much given up on the possibility of having surgery. I see a psychiatrist for meds and the surgeons office wanted a letter of recommendation from the psychiatrist but he wouldn't get involved. He refused to send a letter. The surgery center wants to know from the psych doc if i am stable enough for surgery and they also want to make sure I will be followed after the surgery. Anyways, so I have been searching for a new psychiatrist. I called 2 places but there was one in particular that I really wanted to get in with. I have been waiting about a week or two for someone to call me back. Well, the one I really wanted to get in with called today and we talked about the surgery and him being my new doctor. Well, he agreed to take me on as a patient, even though the waiting list is veryy long. He gave me an appointment on jan. 14th. Cool huh... *smiles* In the meantime, the surgery center called me and because that one psych doc wouldn't get involved, they want me to come into the office to speak with the head doctor to discuss the obstacles that are in my way of having the surgery and if we can overcome them. At least they are willing to discuss it and they didn't just turn me down automatically. There are some mental problems that they don't do surgery with. I'm not sure what they are though. My counselor is also very supportive and will write a letter of recommendation. I'm hoping that the clinic will accept me as a patient. I go there on Jan. 26th. SO I will know more then. I'm just praying it all works out. I know if it is meant that I have the surgery then it will all work out. The waiting is the hardest part. debby

Debby, Did you try the Adirondack Surgical Group in Saranac Lake, NY? They are very good there. Chris

Hi Chris.. Actually, Saranac Lake is where I'm going. They made me an appt to talk with Dr. Hix, the main doctor, to see what my options and obstacles are. I went to the information meeting last month and it went well. I really like the people there. I feel that they are willing to work with me on any issue I have. They didn't just turn me down. I had went to a clinic in Utica and the doc there wanted my psych doc to actually come to the hospital while I was havin the surgery. Well, I'm 2 hours from Utica and there just is no way for my doc to be THAT involved. So they refused to work with me. Then I found Saranac Lake. debby
