Just wondering......before WLS I would gain about 5lbs from PMS.......should I expect the same type of gain or more or less or what haha? I'm a scale wh*re only because I enjoy watching the numbers go down...I know those numbers aren't the only part of all of this.....but I wanted to be prepared for them to go up as my tom comes around any thoughts? dee dee

HI DEE DEE... Well for me...and we are all different... pre op i always BLOATED up 5 lbs for TOM. BUT since my surgery that has not been the case yet. I am starting my seventh month post op and TOM comes early, and the flo is just a steady normally cycle. I dont bloat up and its weired. I loose during TOM and everything. WHEN i did atkins i noticed every MONTH i gained 5 lbs. I am PCOS (poly cystic ovary syndrome as well). MY preiods right now come about a week early each month. BUT because of the hormones we release when looseing weight rapidily its epected. LISA 310/187/???

I'm with Lisa... it's only been 2 months for me, but my period has been coming about a week early (I just got it this week and I had it 3 weeks ago -- this is my 3rd one since surgery). I haven't noticed any weight gain with it, in fact I just dropped another couple of pounds. I do, however, get it VERY heavy (like I did in High School) for a couple of days. The first one post op also came with the cramps and mood swings from HELL but that seems to have calmed down, thank goodness. I also seem to have a burst of energy now, 2 days into it, which is nice, since I went to the gym earlier and had a great workout! I felt like the energizer bunny. Vi

Dee Dee: HI! Welcome! Although I do not recommend the scale watching (as I call it a HUNKAMETAL that lies!) I appreciate your concern. Remember your body is different than anyone elses. SO DO NOT compare wt loss, rate of loss etc...You just can't. I can tell you things go 'wacky' for many hormonally postop. The reason: rapid wt loss releases estrogen from fat stores and we become quite fertile also (so don't trust any birthcontrol pills ud eot malabsorbtion!)! It can be like a rollercoaster ride of PMS. As for bloating/cramping etc may be better same or worse. I guess you'll have to see. *I* never gained wt in my honeymoon phase of Wt loss (7months) I didnt gain until 1 yr out when I got into bad habits, too many carbs etc. I turned it around before I gained more than 10#! So I guess I never gained w/ TOM. BUT I caution you about the scale. We lived by it and it ruled many of our lives for so long PLEASE consider weighing ONCE a week and finding other gauges of success (clothes fitting, ability to exercise easier, more energy, compliments, how you feel, measurements!)...Your right the scale is one measure and bad one at BEST IMHO! SO many let it rule their lives and mood and can lead ot sabotage and drive ya nuts! I weigh monthly as my wt fluctuates 5# any given moment! Keep that in persepective and you'll be okay! I agree wt loss is grat bonus but my goal for wls was to be HEALTHY! (losing wt was a side effect really!) HUGS! I was wondering similar question also. My problem is I was going every 3-4 weeks before surgery, well I got it a few days before surgery and while I was in the hospital, it has been 5 weeks now and still nothing yet. I am getting very bloated but have no feeling of anything coming, I have been wearing just in case pads for 2 weeks now. And I am at my first plateau, I have not lost any more lbs for about 2 weeks now. Any way I guess, I have a new life and have to figure out what my body is going to do to me.
