Hey ladies and gents well i want to share some of my story and see if any of u have been through what I have or its just me alone out here well I had gastric bypass july 18th 2005 and had multiple problems the first one was my pouch closed off where it meets the intestines and caused major blockage called strictures had to have surgery 5 times to open it major pain ! then I couldnt swallow at all they found a stricture in my esphagous so I had to have that dilated major pain again I was in the hospital for 4 months straight on tube feeding and IVs it was not fun got hooked on pain killers and it was very hard to get off them my legs were so week I couldnt walk on my own walked with a walker was in therapy for two months to strengthen my legs also my bladder hasnt worked right since the surgery Ive had a catheter since my surgery I got it out two weeks ago but I still have to straight cath my self when I feel pressure because I cant empty my bladder all the way its been horrible . I have lost alot of weight and Im proud of that my diabetes has gone away but If I had to turn around and do it again I would not do it . I can only eat a few bites of food my pouch never stretched any so Im still at the 2oz stage thats all I can eat is about 2oz of food at a time and if I smell food Im so nausuated I could die. I have a procedure Jan 18th to try to fix my bladder or atleast see what the problem is they say maybe they nicked something while they were in there doing my surgery or the anethesia did it so keep your fingers crossed for me .... Anyone else out there got any of these griefs ?????

Hi there, I am so very sorry you have been struggling so much, but I can sooo relate. I have had major complications initially after my surgery and have battled more and more complications since. It's been never ending for me. I have had 5 surgeries now w/another around the corner...but like you said, at least they know what is wrong w/me now and can fix it. I look forward to this one so I can move on already. I did the feeding tubes, IVs in both arms at the same time, two IVs in my neck, NG tube, respirator, catheter, horrible nausea , not eating, being in pain so much...everywhere,fainting, thinking "what did I do to myself", hating everyone from the surgeon to myself, being so weak I couldnt walk, stand etc etc. I can go on. I know how much it really sucks to get so sick. I know it sounds like bull**** but it does eat easier, just do not give up. Be strong and fight back! Do not let it get the best of you(I know one can say how can you NOT let it get to you) but you just cant. Once you mentally start to go, everything else goes along with it. Again I am sorry to hear someone else is having a really hard time. I know what it is like to suffer so please feel free to email me if you want to talk or for support! Read my profile you can get a sense of my story as well, ok? Take care. Tavia

Darlene, I am in Rochester, too. Are you having yours at Highland? I had Dr. Boss. He and Dr. O'Malley are incredible. I had a very good experience there and things have run very smoothly since. I am very thankful for that. If you ever want to talk, please feel free to email me. Good luck with your surgery.

Kris, I am sorry to hear about all your complications . I have been wondering how you have been doing, since we met at St. Mary's hospital . I am scheduled to have surgery in April . I have to say that what you have gone through really scares me . I have chosen Dr. Lirio as my surgeon and have great confidence in him but sometimes having the best of surgeons is not enough to prevent complications . I can only hope and pray that my outcome is free of complications and brings me all that I am looking for in weightloss and health . I hope everything works out for you and that as Tavia said " It get's easier for you " Please let us know how you are doing ! Take Care and hopefully the new year will bring you health and happiness ! and Carol
