Hello everyone. Does anyone have Dr. Grennaro in Utica for a surgeon? I seem to be having a really hard time with his office. I haven't met him yet. My inititial consult was with his partner, which was very rushed. He basically told me I was morbidly obese and qualified for the surgery. He went through how the surgery was done and gave me back to the receptionist. I supposed to meet him this week. His office is kind of strange. I can never seem to get any answers when I have questions. Everyone is always in a hurry. They only have 1 actual nurse, who is VERY unfriendly. The receptionist seem to handle everything but when you ask them a medical question about one of the test they are sending you too, they are unable to answer the question lol. Its really very frustrating and also makes me kind of nervous. And now my insurance is denying the surgery due to lack of information. It makes me wonder if I have chose the right office and right surgeon. His office just doesnt seem to be very professional. I dont know, maybe its me. Anyone else have any experience with them?

I didn't like him or the office people and especially that nurse. My experience there was terrible, and I did not want anything to do with them. They never returned my calls (well they did 2 months later). I went to Dr. William Graber out of Utica and he and the whole staff were great! In fact, I was scheduled for surgery before Dr Grannero ever returned that call. Try Dr. Graber...he does it laproscopic and does a fantastic job. If you need the number, or any other info, let me know.

Hey Bonnie...thank you...Im glad to see its not my imagination lol I would like Dr. Graber's info if you have it. Im just not sure he would take my case or what I would have to go through, but I would like to at least call and find out. I have done all the pre-op testing and met all the requirements of Dr. Grennaro, actually have a surgery date of Jan. 5th even though Im having trouble with the insurance. I believe it is the office staff that messed up the insurance. I have 3 friends who all have GHI and dont even have the medical problems that I have, and all were approved in 3 days. When I questioned the receptionist yesterday, she took my head off and left me on hold for 10 minutes. It was terrible. Im going to see Dr. Grennaro this morning but Im not expecting to much. Thanks for the info. Karen

Hi Karen, I'm only familiar with these Dr's by experience the members of our support group have. You really want to make sure you're comfortable with the staff and the Dr. prior to the surgery. Would you consider going to Syracuse? I have been dealing with the CNY Bariatric Surgery Center of University Hospital and absolutely love them. My surgeon is Dr. Howard Simon and I absolutely love him. The staff is very knowledgeable and they really take the time that is needed prior to surgery to obtain all the information needed to prepare you for surgery. It does take longer to get your surgery date there than it does from Dr. Graber or Grennaro's office's, but I truly feel the extra time is sooo beneficial. Have you been to a support group yet? We have one in Camden if you'd like to join us. We actually have one tonight at 7pm. Email me if you want more information. Good luck on your decision. Tammy 291/219/145

Thanks Bonnie...I will give his office a call tomorrow first thing. I met Dr. Grennaro today for the first time. I will say he was much nicer than his staff, but still didnt have time to sit and talk with me so I still didnt get any of my questions answered. This is crazy. I will let you know how I make out with Dr. Graber. Thanks for everything.
