new here
Hi everybody
I am new to this group. I have been reading everybody post for a while so I decided to write to you. I am getting my surgery on 1/3/2006. Very nervous just went to docters yesterday to fill all the hospital papers. Pre op is 12/27/2005. I ordered samples of protein drinks got all my vitamins. So what should I bring to the hospital with me. I am having my surgery at St Catherines in Smithtown.
I just wanted to wish everybody a Happy Holidays. Thank you for all your good advice that I read on this board. Any good advice what to stock up at the grocery store for me.

Michele,
Hello hun ~Hugs~ Welcome and I am glad you posted Congrats on your surgery date and that you are almost there. I know I was so excited and nervous right before, what a great feeling. On Jan 3rd you are going to start your new life...Hang on, what a ride.
Sounds like you are all ready, that is really good. I would only say that bring what you feel you will want. I took so much stuff and never used it but the 2 things that was the best was my own pillow from home and my chap stick. They have both but it feels better when they are your OWN. I had my coloring book and crayons but never had time to use them becuase you are resting, sleeping or walking.
I wish you all the best hun and post often. Happy Holidays!

Hi Michele
What a wonderful way for you to start the new year! You've come to a good place, everyone here is wonderful!
My only advice is don't buy too much of anything because I stocked up on so many things (against the advice of everyone) and I have a LOT of stuff in my house that I will probably avoid for a year! (LIKE JELLO!!! AAAAAAAAAAAGGGH!!! )
WELCOME,,,, I brought alot of STUFF with me and didn't use anything. I was resting & walking, in and out in a day and a half. Your own pillow, just for comfort, and maybe something to hold on to when trying to cough {after surgery coughing is a must} it helps break up the phlegm. LOVELY right! LOL, anyway congrats to you and have an uneventful stay in the hospital,,,,,{sugar free ice pops are good for homecoming} Jo H in NY
