medicine question?

I am 4 days post-op and I am having trouble taking the percocet the doctor ordered whether it is cut up or crushed; I am just having trouble getting passed the taste. Is it ok to use liquid tylenol instead I am not having any severe pain just a little uncomfortable I think the tylenol would help with that. Thanks. Take care, Danna

Danna, I would check with your surgeon first hun, I know that the liquid has sugars in it and it might bother you but I am not 100% sure. I had to crush my pain meds and then put it in water (small amount) get it down and chase it with some crystal light, that was the only way I could get it down without getting sick from the taste. Hi Danna, Maybe you would want to try liquid Tylenol #3, which is a RX. You can try the over the counter liquid tylenol but its really thick and gross. The RX tylenol is a lot thinner and stronger (b/c its mixed w/codeine) Just ask the surgeons office to call it in to your pharamacy. If they are giving you percocet then they will give you tylenol #3. Its cheap and goes down easy. Feel better! Tavia

Well honestly thats what got me off the pain meds really fast! CRUSHED PILLS are nasty. HATED getting them down. GAGGED me totally!!!! I did find stage 1 (only) baby food pears tasted a little better then applesauce flavor. JUST me but i dreaded the taste and really worked on no pain meds to deal. I had LAP surgery so i think it helped not sure if you were open or lap. GOOD LUCK! welcome to the looseing side feel better soon! LISA

Hey roomie, how you doing. I ended up alergic to the percocet. That was why I was breaking out. The day after I got home I was all broke out in hives. Dr. Cole called and said to stop taking it and go to regular Tylenol. That is not quite cutting it for the pain.Did you get another room mate after I left? Take care Debbie

No I didn't get another roommate and I left on Sunday.
