Hi everyone Just finish doing my morning runs, within that run I had to get my blood draw for my 6months checkup which is past due(my doctor is still out of town so I'm trying to get most of my work done with my PCP).Why does the phlebotomist have to dig around for the vein when they know they miss the vein. After having complication this summer(double hernia ,incisional abcess and dehydration)and being in the hospital, the phlebotomist would draw my blood every AM and PM hatedit because for some reason I had no vein to draw blood. They stuck me everywhere like I was a pin cushion.Anyway she stuck me three time this morning then, when she found a vein I think she took a gallon of blood ha!ha! Now I'm going to have black and blue mark on my arms because she blow my veins. The price you pay to be healthy and beautiful. All I know I feel great, I can walk my dog without being out of breath and I'm enjoy my weight because I can do almost anything. Hey Claire, If it makes you feel any better, they can never find any veins on me either. I am at the point where I know the angle the butterfly needle needs to be in in my arm to get the blood to come out. I have to tell show them how to do it so I wont be stabbed a million more times. Tavia

Oh I can soooo relate as well. I swear everytime they tried to draw blood before during and after surgery. They had to poke 3-5 times. I finally told them please use small butterfly on me. It worked somewhat that time, they had to pull the blood out with a syringe and then put it inot the tubes, well they came back and hour later and said we can't use it that it had hematized and so they brought yet another person in to get it and she finally hit it on the first try. I think the anesthesiologist also had a hard time. When they took the tape off my back my girls counted 7 poke marks on my back. Any way, if that is the price I have to pay then so be it.
