Home and doing well
Hi all :waving:,
I missed ya, I had my daughter post for me, thanks to those *****sponded. I think I am still at post op fluid weight. I can't believe how huge I blew up to. They did not weigh me in the hospital. But holy cow did my butt and legs blow up huge, not to mention that my tummy looks pregnant. Oh and the GAS GAS GAS, I am finally having some BM's since I have been home and getting rid of some of it. I see that some of you take GAS X afterwards, my Dr. did not mention taking it, and I even asked the nurse about it. She did not recommend using it. Was that because they wanted my bowels to move first? I will have to call them and find out. Cause I would feel great except for the gas. I do have occasional nausea. But, all in all, I have been walking alot, not getting down very much of my meals yet. My family has been great. My husband is dealing with this much better after the surgery than before, the poor thing he was a nervous wreck and he kept walking off to cry before I went in to surgery. He has been just wonderful, between him and my girls the house is spotless, the Christmas decorations are done, most of my food (jello) is prepared for me already in little 1 or 2 oz cups that we had already in the house, my daughter used to work at a restaurant that went out of business and she bought the condiment cups from them. So they are perfect, and when I do get back to work in a few weeks, I can take my lunch in the little cups and not have too much waste.
Ok, as far as tolerable liquids, I am finding that the skim milk is nasty and realing irritates me, the straight juices undiluted are just too sweet and I can only sip occasionally at diluted juices, broth is somewhat ok, but cant take too much of that either, the popsicles so far are great no sicky feeling with them, and jello I tolerate well, and I tried some decaf tea this morning and that is doing real well too.
I am so excited now I can add to the what did you eat posts!!!
I would like to thank everyone for their wonderful support once again. You are awesome!!! I am so glad I found this site and forum.
Have a great day, time to go have some breakfast. Then take my meds, then yet another nap

Hi Shannon
Welcome home and welcome to the "other side"! I had my surgery 6 weeks ago and have been soooo happy that I did, even with the few rough patches that I have come across along the way! I'm sooo happy that my life doesn't revolve around eating anymore and lunch is running me about 50 cents or less a day now that I'm back to work.
I had problems with milk at first too so I switched to Lactaid for a couple of weeks. Like you, I found everything to be sooo sweet. I'm finally able to tolerate the tropicana LIGHT orange juice (less sugar) diluted with water. I also found a hot apple cider (sugar free) at Walmart that I like if I add lots of water to it.
It's a LOT of trial and error, but you'll find out what works for you!
HUGS,
Vi
