November 29th just two weeks from today. Holy cow this is moving fast now. I thought they would tell me maybe the first or second week of December. I am soooooooooo excited, starting to get a little scared but not too bad. So many things running through my head. I have to say though that I have total confidence in my surgeon. I have never been knocked out before and I am mostly scared about that, and the intubation thingy, real nervous about that too. Anyway just had to share my good news, and to thank you all. Shannon Arnold Campbell, NY 257/???/130 is a coming my way

Shannon, Congratulations to you and good luck. I just want you to not be scared about being Knocked out. I have been through several surgeries and such. It is easy. I try to go into the operating room with a joke to tell the anesthesiologist. Just to loosen him or her up. They will give you something to relax you and then you get the good stuff. It will feel a bit warm going into the vein but let me tell you, there is an instant before you go to sleep that can be like being in Nirvana. It is a wonderful feeling. I am glad you can't get the drugs everyday. They will intubate you when you are asleep and if all goes well, the tube will come out when you can prove to the recovery room staff that you are awake. Does not hurt to come out, but your throat will be a bit sore for a short time. Try not to stress out too much. Soon enough it will all just be a faded memory and you will be well on your way!!! Have a great night Sandra

Shannon, Congrats hun ~hugs~ I know that is just an awesome feeling and very exciting.... I would have to say the same thing as Sandra did, but I did not remember in any of my surgeries(4), the tube, so I guess I was still out enough when they took it out. I would not worry about that hun ~Hugs~ I wish you all the best with your surgery and recover. You will be on the losers bench soooooo sooooonnnnn.. Take care Debra P

Hey Shannon! First of congrats on getting a date let alone one so soon!! I am so very happy for you. As for the fear of surgery, that is compeletely normal, I mean you are human? It will be over and done w/before you know it! Just take deep breaths right before to calm yourself down. As for the respirator, usually they pull that out right when you wake up. It's not pleasant but it does serves a purpose. My throat is sore for days after I have a surgery. To me that is the most annoying thing about surgery is the sore throat not the pain from the actual surgery. I would say bring cough drops with you(make sure they are sugar-free ones) just in case it gets really sore. GOOD LUCK! Tavia
