I went away this weekend to visit my daughter up in Brockport (near Rochester) for her 21st birthday. On Friday night we went to an Italian restaurant ... I ordered a seafood combination that was supposed to be on top of and mixed in with linguini. I asked if they could just do the seafood and give me the pasta on the side (my daughters boyfriend ate that). The plate came and it was HUGEEEEEEEE .. omg it looked so pretty and smelled so good...I ate one shrimp and one scallop and couldn't eat another bite. The waitress came over and said..."is everything okay because if I take your plate back into the kitchen looking like that the chef is going to be upset"..I laughed..told her it was delicious but I needed it wrapped up because I had had gastric bypass surgery 2 months ago. She just nodded and took the plate into the kitchen. When she came back for the dessert order (all the kids got something...I got decaf tea)..she said "guess what?" .. "the chef said that your dinner is free tonight" .. I was very surprised .. thanked her and then asked "why?". She said that the chef felt that if I couldn't eat the food he prepared for me that I shouldn't be charged for it. I explained again that we were taking it home and I couldn't eat it because of the surgery...it didn't matter. The chef came out of the kitchen to shake my hand and applaud me for taking such a drastic step in my life and wished me luck and much success. I was floored but it made me feel so good. There are people outside that think what we've done is a good thing...it's not all bad press I guess. thought I would share! hugssssssssssssssssssss...Linda

Linda, Now how fantastic is that? It is so good to hear something positive from the "general public". Now, when you have leftovers, they will taste even better !!!! Hugs back Sandra

that was a neat experience! YOU Dr. AHMAD's wife gave us restaurant cards to use when we dine out to be able to order smaller portions or from a kids menu.... BUT i wouldnt have the courage to use it. I havent eaten out but once since surgery and my meal was untouched and i filled up on my husbands coleslaw... the waitress kept asking if all was fine and i said yeah i said i guess i wasnt hungry and didnt get into things.... YOUR storey was too cute! THANKs for sharing lisa

That is wonderful!! Great to hear that some people are "behind" us!! I usually order an appitizer for dinner or soup and salad. I eat what I can, move the food around on my plate, talk (alot!! - thats what happens when you are not stuffing your face!! ) then ask the waitress to take my plate away. sometimes I ask for it to be wrapped but mostly i dont. Linda, Hun I know I posted to this yesterday, not sure where it went? Did you get the email of my post by chance? Well I just love the story.....I was saying that I go out to eat and they just look at me when I have only eaten less then half of my plate, they think something is wrong but they don't know that I had the surgery. I know they have to be thinking "ok this women is heavy so she does eat, what is going on" O well, if this is yet another side effect of the surgery so be it....LOVE IT... Take care ~Hugs~ Debra P
