NSA CIB has ONLY FOUR (4) little grams of protein in it, from milk powder which isn't the most bioavailable. *I* WOULD NOT EVER consider Carnation Instant Breakfast a 'protein suppliment', (it is a good add exttra carb suppliment and good add extra empty calories suppliment but that is about it) to get close to 30g of protein you'd have to drink 7-8 servings at 12g carb a pop and 70 cal each thats 490+ cal and 84g carbs for same amount of protein in 1.5 scoops of most high quality (concentrate or isolate form) whey protein suppliments that are 100% bioavailable and at ~135 cal and 0-3 g carbs!
Remember there are am lot of good surgeons {and nutritionists too!} out there who (sigh) unfortunatleyare not very up to date on nutrition! & think this is a great suppliment {have thgey read the box??} and that tums (sigh) are a good form of calcium (NOT!) (*as RNY bypassers we have little/no acid in pouch and calcium carbonate in tums, viactive and most calcium supps is carbonate and needs ACIDIC environment to be absorbed so if your on tums say waste of money, adding to possible kidney stones and brittle bones when it will be too late to know! Think about using a calcium citrate suppliment (UPCALD powder or citrical)...)
WE must be educated consumers of our own health! The research and data is out there. look to the groups such as Grads, GBIC, ossg protein, ossg vitamins/minerals etc on yahoo we talk ABOUT THIS ALL THE TIME, VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE POSTIES!

PLEASE!!! Read the label of carnation instant Breakfast AKA CRAP IN A BOX.... (oops excuse me)! Even the No sugar added is loaded with sugar (from the milk powder!) UGH!
why DRINK 70 CALORIES FOR a MEASLIE 4G PROTEIN?
http://www.wheyoflife.org/faq.cfm
http://www.wheyprotein.com/sec_intro.html
the above are 2 good links on Whey it is more bioavalablie than milk protein also and does not have the carbs! We crave more carbs when we eat carbs and goal is to lose wt right? So why wouldn't I do one shake of when say nectar 90 cal for 23Gprotein 0 g fat vs Carnation NSA instant breakfast at 70 cal 4 g protein and 7 g carbs? THIS STATEMENT ALONE SAYS IT ALL!....Con't to drink this and watch the wt loss stall and regain come on by 1 yr out I can almost guarentee it and well it wont help anyone in way of protein, will help you not dump as u desensitize to sugar and will help the cravings start also. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION....
I use PVL whey gourmet protein (creamy and rich, no nasty after taste, I love white choc, vanilla, caramel dip, raspberry best! tehy have 15 flavors I think now)http://www.a1nutritionproducts.com/wheygourmet.asp or for samples: http://bethsproteinboutique.com/ 1-3 shakes a day as RNY proxie, at over 3 yrs out maintining my 100% excess loss within 10#! (Which I feel ain't to shabby)

Saved from a post when some one said BUT ITS SUGAR FREE! (NO ITS NOT! NSA IS MUCH DIFFERENT THAN SF!)
'it is sugar free dear'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
please reconsider using carnation instant breakfast even the no
sugar added variety! ***IT IS NOT SUGAR FREE**** 12 G carbs and 7G sugar inthe powder! (see below for full nutrition info)UGH it is full of carbs! and has very little nutritional
value!!!!!!
http://www.carnationinstantbreakfast.com/Products/PowderDrinkmix.aspx#
It has 70 calories in SF variety for only 4G protein!!!!! you need 23-30g
protein in a serving and most proteins give u this for 90-150 calories! (and 0-4g carbs! NOT 12 g in the carnation instant breakfast!)
What does he recommend it for? Surely not a source of protein at 70 cal &4g protein? Much better alternatives out there, even a cup of milk (which I dont recommend due to the carb content of ~13g/cup) is 90 cal for 8 g protein.
"Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect, it just means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections!"
morning...
I couldn't drink the SF CIB...I had no problem with it B4 surgery but when I tried it after surgery it made me sick...very sick it was my first experience with dumping (1st day home...)
I live on the unjury chocolate protein mixed with skim milk...I drink 2 of these per day. I have become quite inventive with it too! I can't seem to drink any of the protein drinks that get mixed with water...they make me
I also use the unjury unflavored protein in my soup or my tea and anything warm that it will desolve in...I don't even know it's there.
I have gotten all the sample packs from alot of different distributors..unjury seems to be the only one I can really tolerate (taste wise)
good luck to you and we'll see you on the losing side very very soon!
