My husband was watching this hospital/doctor show, Greg's Anatomy last night while I was reading my book. (I the last thing I want to see for 'entertainment' is doctor shows, ugh.) My husband call me in half way through the show and told me to watch b/c there was this character on the show that was so me. There was this patient who was going back into the OR for her fifth heart surgery. She brought w/her own little hospital supply bag(toothbrush, wipes, hair brush, ear plugs etc) and was telling the doctors, "make sure you tell them to get the breathing tube out of me before I wake up." And "get me my anti-bacterical wipes b/c this place is full of germs". Do you know how many times I have said things like that?!? I use four paper towels to turn off the sinks in there and open door knobs, yuck. Oh my gosh. I so have my own hospital bag AND the LAST TWO visits to the OR I told them to make sure they take the respirator out of me before I wake b/c I hate that thing in me. I AM BECOMING ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE!! The characters husband on the show said to the doctor, "She is like a mystical monster that keeps on going." Oh gosh, that is so me! I was laughing so hard that I think I popped a staple b/c unfortunately I can sadly relate. Tavia

Tavia, Relax, hun, so can tons of other "frequent flyers" relate. Its just that the more you go, the more prepared you are. Its survival of the fittest in there, for Pete's sake! Linda

Tavia- I can relate too-- The first thing I said on the morning of by RNY to the surgeon was-- Get that damn tube out of my mouth before I am cognizant! I remember having it in me for 24 hours before they removed it when I had heart surgery four years ago. Hang in there.
