As per his orders, I saw my surgeon again in his office this friday. The first thing he told me when he walked into the room was when he sent me to the ER LAST WEEK "they" told him I was eating "potato chips" while I was still in the ER. I was like what in the heck is he talking about. He has gone and lost his mind now. Who the heck is "they"? Then I remembered when he send me to the ER last I was there from 4pm until 10am the next morning. I had nothing to eat/drink since 10 am the previous morning. Its not like they give you anything in there. So after I was discharged I was waiting around the door for my husband to pick me up. They have a vending machine right by the door and I was looking at it b/c I was so hungry at that point. I bought this small bag of 'soy' chips and I think i ate two/three chips before i got a stomach ache and stopped. Then i gave the rest of the bag to my husband when he picked me up. I was standing right by the exit, who the heck is watching me anyway?!? The nerve of "they". He says to me, "maybe we have to talk about your choices you are making to eat now." I was like what are you joking? He also says, He told me "you cant have nausea and be hungry at the time". I told him I wasnt nauseous right at that point, I was HUNGRY! I ate the same four stupid mushy foods I have always been able to eat. That is totally taken out of context and uncalled for. I ask him to tell me who told him that he refused. Ugh, it is so frustrating. I told him whoever told him that totally took it out of the situation and doesnt know me, my struggles of what I am still going through now. The just want to kiss the surgeons butt and make the stupid patient at fault for her own problems. It is not like i was sitting there all night eating some jumbo bag of bbq lays potato chips. He is just so digging to find something to blame my problems on, please. Like Marian says, he is just grasping at straws at this point. I was so so hungry, I was going to die. I told him its not like they have an tofu machine for me to buy from. I told him what should have I bought to eat, cookies, lifesavers, snickers? I am getting another endoscopy done(second opnion) on the 17th with the surgeon present. I am hoping this will bring an answer once and for all. I would love to know what this "really narrow sharp turn" the other GI doctor is talking about when he did an endoscopy on me in August. But you know what, that is probably my fault as well. Right. Just like "problems like these need time to fix". Right. What two years? Another thing is he sent one of this 'associates' down to see me while i was in the ER. The same one who told me "maybe people like myself should have our mouths wired shut." This time he asked me if "all of this was really just a cover for a love affair my surgeon and I are having" and "when 'they' are done w/me I am only going to have like one inch of intestine left." I do not care if he or his "spies" reads this. I am tired of being sick and being a black sheep. I want to be normal again. There is a lot more I can say but I wont open those can of worms on here. If I did you guys would find scorpions. Tavia

Tavia, I said it before and I'll say it again--your surgeon made an error when he initially did your surgery. You shouldn't be having so many complications. I truly believe that we as patients follow our surgeons' rules--especially in the initial stages of our surgery. Most people who are in generally good health do NOT have these complications. Something is up--the more I HEAR --THE MORE i FEEL THAT SOMETHING WENT WRONG DURING YOUR SURGERY AND NOW YOUR SURGEON IS PLAYING MAKE -UP. hE WOULD LIKE NOTHING BETTER AT THIS POINT HAN TO BLAME YOU FOR HIS ERROR. BE BLESSED MARIAN s.c.

I know the main focus of this board is for us to help/vent with each other. How can we actually be honest and open if you know surgeons and surgeons "spies" are actually reading this board. I know for a fact that they are. What because they paid $40 dollars to "sponsor" OH you have the right to read into your patients private lives and spy? They know what we say about them is so important for them to get new patients/business. This surgery is mostly by word of mouth especially in finding a surgeon. That's why they pay for their names to be posted all over this website. I like I said I am keeping most of my medical issues off this board b/c I do not want trouble. I just want to be normal again, that is all. Tavia

Hi Tavia, I agree with you ~ you need your life back. I actually had a consult with your surgeon. one year b4 I had the consult with the surgeon who did my surgery 9/6/05. There was something about the office staff that rubbed me the wrong way. And if his spies are reading this they need to change their attitude. Secondly, I think it is totally inappropriate for a Dr. to tell yo uthe comment about having your mouth wired shut Oh that really ****** me off!!!! Well I wil pray that things get better for you, I hope your son is feleing better gail

I am so sorry this is happening to you. Getting to know the kind of person you are makes me so mad that you have to endure this bull. You know my opinion so i dont need to express it again right now. You now what you need to do!! You have a little guy at home to take care of. Call me anytime, you know its a nuthouse here but if i can talk i will. Just take it easy and keep that positive attitude that has gotten you this far. I know it can be hard but it is important to stay positive and focused. I have to tell you that you look great. I would never know you had any of these problems seeing you. It is good to have friends to vent and express your true feelings. Pick those friends carefully and use them whenever you need to. Remember i am here!

Tavia, I am real sorry to hear of all the crap you are being forced to endure. I wish things could be different for you. I really dislike doctors who can't own up to their own mistakes. Lord knows I have had my share of doctors like that. With my experience, my doctors mistakes cost the life of my first born son in 1996, Every time I think of doc's like those I feel so angry, I could explode. Sad to say, but doc's today are more interested in protecting their reputation, than they are about protecting their patients. I know how hard it is to deal with doc's like those. They try real hard to make you feel like what evr has gone wrong may have come from something you did. I say screw doc's like that, and they really shouln't be practicing. I just wanna end this by saying, Stay strong, keep your head up and do what you have to do for you. I pray everything works out for you. Good Luck always........ Love and Hugs, Blanquie

Tavia, Sweetie , I am so sorry that you are having all these issue's with your surgeon ! I have to agree with everyone else on the board whom have replied to your post . I think that he is looking to put the blame on anyone but himself and if he has tried to put it every where else and still has not succeeded then now he is looking at you to blame ! You can vent to your family here at OH anytime. We love you and care about how you are feeling and if venting to us helps then by all means....go for it ! Let me tell you a little story about what happened to me and how my gynecologist (sp?) blamed me for something totally ridiculous ! Of course it doesn't even come close to what you have been going through ,but it does show a lil something on how Dr's tend to look at everyone but themselves to blame. When I had my first child ( I had him normally , no c-section) before sending me home they were suppose to make sure I went #2 . Well I was feeling quite constipated and complained several times over a 2 day period . My doc. chalked it up as pressure . He said that I did not know what I was feeling since this was my first child. He sent me home on colace stool softener .I did not have a bowel movement prior to leaving the hospital and he knew it ! Well the same night I got home after eating dinner , felt pressure alright! I had to go #2 and it hurt like hell . It was a huge bowel movment hard as a rock ! I had to literally stand up to go , the pain was excruciating ! All of a sudden I see blood gushing from that area. So I screamed to my husband and he came running in the bathroom. I asked him to look to see where the blood was coming from. HE did .....He said , you are split wide open down there , you only have one opening now and it is huge ! He almost passed out ! Well I went to the ER and they called my DR. (GYN) in. He totally flipped out on me , He refused to do the suregry to stitch me back up ! He said " What did you do?" I told him what had happened and he said that "no bowel movement could have done this !" I said ,"well it did!" He said I sent you home on colace and that should have softened it up . He said ," You did not take it did you ?" I said yes I took it , I had 3 of them while still here in the hospital !!!! Well he was pissed , he did not believe me and felt I was to blame some how for this happening. He was partner's with another DR. and he as I said before refused to do the surgery to fix me so the other Dr. did it ! So that is my story . It goes to show how some , not all but some Dr.s do not admit their wrongs ! Keep your head held high , Sweetie ! I hope you find out soon what the GI doc was talking about ! Take Care, and Carol

Sounds like you had a bowel obstruction. That is a common complication after any surgery. Not going to the bathroom, let alone not passing gas after surgery is not good at all. You doctor should have taken that seriously. I had a bowel obstruction three days after my gastric bypass. The CT-scan showed most of my intestine collasped as a result of a narrowing of the connection of my pouch to sm. intestine. The connection need to be revised, which resulted in a bad bowel obstruction. I started to throw up my bowels. Yuck, i know. That sounded like a nightmare that they didnt take your concerns seriously, ugh, but i know how it feels. Tavia
