Hi!! I have been on this site many times before, searching for answers and stuff, and since my surgery on June 27th, I have thought about posting so many times, but I always felt like I didnt have any thing to say, to really contribute, and so I stayed on the side lines. Kind of like what I always do, but I had this kind of epiphanic moment the other day and I suddenly felt like I wanted to share. First of all, I grew up in NY, I have been overweight my whole life, and as such, I always lacked the confidence to really just get up and say things publicly, to join in. I am 4 months post op, and still have a ways to go, but I feel so many changes in me already that stunned at times. I like shopping. That amazed me. So back to this moment I was talking about. I was at a restaurant, first time I tried public eating since before my operation. And as many of you know, or will know, what your mouth may want, and what your stomach may tolerate are two very different things. SO...that being the case, I ordered everything to be prepared in very specific ways. I wanted the chicken breast with no suace on it, the rice on the side, and the veggies steamed. Well, they didn't do that. While the old me would have just taken it and eaten it without much fuss, I couldnt do it. It was this family function, and I had to have the waiter take it back, and I, Ulissa, the girl who NEVER complains, shocked everyone at the table. It was quite a trip. I just have to say, I know that I knew this operation was going to change me health wise, and I prayed physically speaking it would change me as well, but I didn't expect emotional, and psychological changes. I certainly never expected to be able to look back at moments in my life as say that, if I was thinner, that wouldnt have happened to me, and yet, I find myself doing just that. Do you think thats normal? Especially at 4 months? Thanks for listening.

Ulissa, I am not post-op yet but I wanted to respond to your post. First by saying....."YOU GO GIRL " !!!!!!!! I think that it is probably a normal response from you as you have made such a drastic yet healthy change to your body and your mind is changing too ! Which I think is great! I can only hope this change takes place in me as well. You took a stand for yourself ! You should be proud of that. I also hope that you post more often. You can just say Hi or just lend a lil support to someone by wishing them luck with their journey or by doing what you just did ! I am sure there are so many more people out there that have expeirienced feelings emotionaly as you have and now they don't feel so alone ! So post , you have much more to contibute then you think ! I, for one, enjoyed reading about your expeirience as I am sure many others will too!!! Thanks for sharing ! Good Luck with all that you do ! and Carol

Hi Ulissa, Welcome --and I agree--you GO GIRL!!! You are finally taking care of ULISSA! It's about time--and although that was the first time--It won't be the last--you are finally taking your life and your emotional in your hands and treating them both the way that they should be treated--And what's more --people will start treating you better too!! They will see the respect that you have for yourself and they will treat you accordingly! Good for you! Be B;essed, Marian S.C.
