National TV show nd Too cool!

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to say that my friend's 11 year old son Zachary was chosen to be on the Today show on Tuesday for the segment on obesity. Tomorrow the producer is coming to Lockport to follow him in school and to interview the family during dinner and then on Monday they are flying them to NY city for the show on Tuesday. I wish I was chosen but I am so happy they chose him. He has had alot of medical problems and in April they diagnosed him with a brain tumor (Unrelated to weight) the local hospital had an MRI from when he was 4 and compared it to the one they took in April and told the parents the tumor was there from when he was 4 but much bigger. The family never knew it was there so they asked the insurance company for a referral to go to the Cleveland clinic for a second opinion and they were given the approval. They saw the Doctor in Cleveland on Tuesday and the surgery was done on Friday and now the insurance company is refusing to pay the astronomical medical bills (over $500,000). We are holding a benefit (Chinese auction and Spaghetti dinner on the 13th of Nov to help with the costs). I am hoping the show will also touch on the insurance issues. (wishful thinking) This kid has gone through so much and he weighs like 300 pounds and none of the Doctors can come up with why? He weighed 12.5 pounds at birth and was even 3 weeks early and was very large all through childhood. He is really sweet so try and tune in on Tuesday. Thanks and Hugs Chris

Chris, Thanks for sharing this with us ! I will be sure and tune in and watch on Tuesday. I am sorry to hear about his diagnosis of that tumor. He is so young to have to deal with all this. My heart goes out to him and his family ! I hope the benefit is a huge success and you accomplish all that you are hoping for ! We all know how devasting medical bills can be!
