Hi everyone... I had my consult on monday and it went good. The doctor explained the surgery to me. He said he wants me to lose 30 lbs before surgery so they gave me a diet to follow. I'm high risk for surgery he said. Plus, they wanna make sure that anyone that has the surgery is able and willing to follow the diet before and after the surgery. So I started the diet yesterday. It is pretty hard because I've used food to comfort me and now I can't do that anymore. I know maybe that sounds crazy. I go back in 3 weeks for a weigh in and an eating class. Anyways, wanted to let ya know how my first appointment went. Hope you all have a good day. debby

Good for you. I hope things go easily for you. Try to stay focused at all times. This is the hardest, yet best thing I've ever done for myself.

Thank you for the hug Blanquie. All this is a bit hard but I will get through it. I have a pretty good group of supportive friends. That does help some. debby

Debby, hun that does not sound crazy, I am one of those people that have the same problem. I eat when I am happy, sad and mad! I am glad it went well and you will have no problems losing the 30 lbs, you know that this is not forever so you will do it, I will keep you in my thougts and prayers that this goes smoothly for you ~hugs~ Debra P 285/196/125??

hi Debra, Yea that is the hard part really. I have to learn to eat for the right reasons. Suppose to eat healthy to get all the nutritions in the body. It sounds easy, but it isn't always that way. I'm hoping to lose about 10 lbs at my next visit in 3 weeks and hopefully have the surgery in january. But that is looking ahead, need to focus on today and eating the right things. Thank you, debby

Debby, Yes you are right, it is VERY hard and that is why we need to have this surgery. I am with Linda, I am not sure why they make us do this prior knowing we have this problem. I know for myself I now follow much better then I used to before surgery so it really helps and for you to have to lose the weight before is so crazy But I guess the Dr's have your health in mind so you have to do what you have to do to have this surgery! Again hun, I wish you all the luck and may you have the control to lose the amount you need to have this surgery asap. ~Hugs~ Debra P
