This may be a really stupid question - Will WLS help me with my migraines? It just seems like everything else in my life is related to my weight issues. Why not this too? Just keep piling it on. Beth

Beth, Hun no question is stupid, please remember that. We all think about different stuff as me move along this journey. I am not sure I have heard of that being something that cleared up with weight loss but you never know. Extra weight sure does so much to our bodies that is for sure. I wish you all the best hun ~hugs~ Debra P 285/197/125??

Thanks Deb - I wasn't sure. But then again - if I don't have to deal with the High BP and the apnea, then maybe a migraine once in a while won't be so bad. ps - you are looking marvelous!! - Great pic!! Beth

Hi Beth, Welcome to the wonderful world of WLS. Like you, I'm from Rochester - my surgeon wasn't Dr. Galvin but I have a friend who went to Dr. Galvin and she just had surgery 6 weeks ago. Her first consultation with him was in March of 2005. I had Dr. Jennifer Griffith from Park Ridge and loved her. If you'd like to talk off line, send me a note at [email protected] and I'll give you my phone number. As for migranes, I can't be sure if the WLS will help, but as long as they aren't hormonal, there is a good chance. I too was a migraine headache person, since I was 5 years old. Five years ago I developed fibroid tumors and needed an emergency hysterictomy. I was told the headaches were definitely not related but guess what - not one headache since that surgery. What a wonderful life it now is. I just read your profile and just love your list of things you'd like to be able to do. Let me tell you, you will be able to accomplish most if not all. I'm 5 1/2 months post-op and can already do many of them. One of my greatest accomplishments so far is being able to cross my legs comfortably and being able to put shoes and socks on without killing myself. Have a wonderful day and please keep in touch. Hi, I don't know for sure if the migraines will go away --but if your pressure is lower and you sleep well at night--won't that help the migraines and your general health?? Be Blessed Marian S.C.

Oh - I certainly hope so.I'm not sure if migraines are linked to sleep, I am at least a third generation migraine sufferer (Mom and GrandMother) and the only one with weight issues. But with the BP down and better general health, I think I will be able to deal with them better as they are just one thing that is wrong and not one more on an ever growing list of what is wrong with me.
