Freaking out: 5 lbs gain within 3 days...HELP!!
LONG...please read...
Okay, family, I need help...just a few days ago I posted about how great and happy I was feeling for having reached the 50+ lbs loss mark and having lost 20 inches...
...Well, I had weighed myself on Saturday (217), before going to the gym (I registered and started going with my son). We went Saturday and Sunday and worked out for almost 2 hours (including crunches, 2 different types of bikes, the treadmill, and about 15 minutes in the sauna) both on Sat and Sun...
...Then, on Tuesday, I weighed myself again (I was curious to see if I had lost anything else)...WELL, to my surprise and despair, ESCALIA (that's my digital scale's name--she talks in a woman's voice) said my weight was 222 lbs!! I nearly fell to the ground. WHAT THE...??? How is it possible to have gained 5 lbs within 3 days... Yes, I understand our weight fluctuates within days and times of the day, but up until then, the fluctuations had never been more than 1 lb (mostly ounces).
AM I DONE LOSING? Is my weight going to start to go the wrong way again? I'm just 2-1/2 months out and not even close to goal. Yes, it is true that I have been somewhat constipated the last 2-3 days, but I haven't changed anything in what I eat, the frecuency or anything like that. The only change is that I started going to the gym. Could this have done it? Is my body holding on to everything I eat now?
Can anyone give me any advice? Has anyone experience anything like this?
Today I call my surgeon's office and spoke to one of the girls (my doc wasn't in the office). I explained to her what's happening and she suggested I wait a week, wait myself again, and if the trends continues, to call immediately and set up an appointment to see my surgeon. SOMETHING MUST BE WRONG!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, I'm desperate...
Thanks for reading this, any advice will be great!

Hi Dolly,
Don't panic!!! You just started to work out--I know that often yuor body will actually seem to have gained after a workout. It holds onto water and it is building muscle . Also you have not had a decent BM in a few days. (Try some benefiber chewables) Last but not least it may be near that time of the month. All things combined may have caused a temporary weight gain. So don't get It's just the trying to make you feel bad!
Are you making sure that you are getting your proper amount of protein? and are you writing down EVERYTHING that you are eating?
I still count calories as well as protein. I try to eat no more than 1,000 calories per day.
Remember the good old days --when you became anxious and ate ? well , how are you doing now? Have you had your thyroid checked lately?
There could be a million reasons for your seeming gain--
BUT the first thing that you absoutely must do is to remain calm! You will start losing again!
Stay calm--Be Blessed and don't weigh yourself for at least a week ( I know, easier said than done) Continue to exercise, count your calories and your protein! You changed your routine --so your body must adjust!

Hello Marian!
I get the water retention thingie, and the lack of a fun trip to the but I already had my visit two weeks ago...
Yes, I still meassure my food and log in (everyday) my daily intake and activity. I'm still only eating up to 900 cals per day.
The anxiety eating is under control and I had a full blood workup a month ago and everything was fine, with the exception of my iron count which has always (all my life) been on the low side, but I do take my iron supplement every other day.
Ok, I'll give my body time to figure out what's happening and to adjust.
Thanks so much for your input.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Don't worry, everyone knows that muscle weight more then fat, but it also retains alot of water. U know all that pain you have a day or 2 after the gym thats your musels healing. When you work out you put small tears in your muscle, for that muscle to heal it retains water for a couple of days. Thats why you should only work out 4-5 days a week, u need 2-3 day off for your body to get rid of tha****er and let your muscles heal. You'll be fine

Dolly,
Hun I have to say I understand because when we start to work out our muscles retain water because they are being worked as well as muslce weighs more then fat so I see that as well. The bad thing is when I do I stop the walking because I want to see the numbers keep moving down and I tell myself I will start again in a while. I know that is not right of me but I do that!
Hang in there hun and it will start to pick up again. ~hugs~ Try and have a great day hun and know that this is only temp...
