Lightweights and TT Surgery
Hi Everyone
Have any of you WLS Lightweights been able to get your TT surgery covered through your insurance? Since we went into this surgery just by the skin of our "scales" and most likely most of you like me, do not present with unusual body rashes etc. what are OUR chances of insurance covering this surgery to remove "OUR" unwanted extra tummy flab? I desperately want a flatter tummy since I do have hanging stomach flab but was told that it will probably NOT be covered by insurance because I do not have any sores, rashes etc. I am insured through Empire Gov't/ NYSHIP. Any feedback on this one?
Thanks a bunch!

Marianne,
First I want to say you look Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am seeing the PS on Nov. 4th. I have to have a hernia repair (Navel) and I also have no rashes etc. He said he "may" be able to get some coverage for it. I figure since the hospital and anesthiologist(sp) will be covered for the hernia anyway I may as well get the tt done at the same time. I am not optomistic about the insurance covering the PS. But I will self pay the difference if I have to.
I also want to see how much for arms & thighs as they look awful too.
I will post after I find out more info.
Good luck and let me know if you have any luck with coverage.

I had a tummy tuck and 3 hernias repaired on 2/7/05. Oxford covered the hernias, but would not cover the tummy tuck. I had no rash, sores or back pain, so they said it was not medically necessary.
The hospital and anesthesia was covered, but I had to pay the plastic surgeon myself ($6,000). Was worth every penny.

I was a lightweight, qualifying with just over 100 lbs to lose. My insurance did cover every last nickel. I had minimal rashes but did have documented in my medical records that when I did have them, I used antifungal creme to keep them down. My insurance was Independent Health. They approved the tummy tuck AND the upper eyelids! The only thing I am gonna have to self-pay is the lower bleph.
