Just got a call from my NUT, who had the results of my 3 month labwork. My parathyroid levels are up, meaning I have to take my Calcium twice a day, every day (which I haven't been) and my Iron was a little low, so I have to increase that to twice a day. Otherwise, my blood work was all good. Linda

hey Lisa I get to see Dr. Ahmad today for my 6 week check up. He's never mentioned anything to me about taking calcium or B-12 anything else other than a one-a-day multivitamin...that makes me a little nervous. I keep reading that all these people are taking all these things and I just take the multi. When did you start taking all those other things? I am going to ask him today when I see him but maybe you can shed some light for me. Hope you're doing well! hugsssssssss......Linda

Linda, Congrats on the good labs hun and make sure you take all your supplements. I take 4 Viactive calcium chews a day but they taste really good so I do not mind. I have my bloodwork on the 29th so we will see how I will do after that. Take care ~hugs~ Debra P 285/207/125??

Deb you should probably look into another calcium tablet. The Viactiv is not the right calcium. It's calcium carbonate and we should be taking calcium citrate. We do not absorb calcium carbonate. Joanne

Joanne, yes the ingredients say calcium Carbonate not Ciitrate but then why do my surgeon AND my Nutritionist say to take these? I get so confused with this.....I guess I will have to research this more... thanks for letting me know hun ~hugs~ I do not like to swallow pills now so if they make a calcium that is good please let me know. Probably for the same reason they tell us to take Tums when we're newly pre-op. They're chewable. As you get further out taking pills shouldn't be a problem. I'm using CVS brand calcium citrate. They're 630 mg. each and $9.99 for 120 caplets. I take 2 a day and I buy them when they have them for buy one get one free. I think bariatriceating.com has some chewables, but I'm sure they're expensive. Joanne

Deb, I used to take the Vivactiv too, it is calcium citrate. But I really didn't like them. I tried some liquid calcium, blueberry flavored instead. And I take the Bariatric Advantage chewable Iron. By the way, take a look at my profile, they have spruced it up, but I wanted Betty Boop nurse. Linda

Viactiv is calcium carbonate not citrate. Joanne
