Hi all, Just wanted to share the news with you that I finally had my consult with my surgeon !!!! It went really well. I felt very comfy with the surgeon I chose . I feel he is more than fully compatent to do my surgery. He explained everything to a T !!!! And dotted all the i's too ! I was so nervous going in but he made my husband and I feel very comfortable ! He does not however sugar coat anything, he is very to the point and caring at the same time!! He felt I was very well informed and that I have done well with my research . I have all of you and OH site to thank for that !! Of course their were many, many other sites that I visited for research , but most of them sites came from you and OH!! THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND KNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN ME !! I do have a question though.......... He said that I have poor circlation in my legs and recommends that I have a filter put in for the surgery. I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with these filters ? What is your opinion of these? Is it painful to have one put in? What are the complications ? Okay that was more then one question. Thanks All... Take Care, & Carol

Carol, Hun I am so glad that all went well and you are pleased with your surgeon, that is a very big thing! So now what is your next step? what does he want you to do besides the filter (which I know nothing about, sorry)? I am sure someone here will be able to help you as well as posting to the main board, it might get more answers for you. Take care hun ~Hugs~ Debra P 285/208/125??

Hi Deb, Thanks! I have to get some tests done now. You know all that wonderful testing you have to have before the surgery !!! My surgeons office handles scheduling all the appts. except for the pshycologist appt. I am responsible to make that one. So it is pretty much a waiting game still. I am anxiously waiting for the surgeons office to call with some of those scheduled appts. I am gonna post this on the main board about the filter. Thanks Deb!! I was ing this to you right after you posted your answer to me but I got soome company . So sorry for getting back to you so late! & , Carol

hi Carol! I am so happy for you that you finally got your consult!!! He sounds like a very good surgeon. I look forward to you joining us on the losing side over here!! Anyway, blood clots developing in your legs after this surgery is a major concern(well for any major surgery it is) they can lead to clots in lungs, heart etc which are not good. They thought that maybe i had some in my lungs while I had pneumonia but thank god I didnt from a finding on a nuclear test. They can get really bad, really quick. One way they stop this from happening is by giving you the heprin shot and putting those cuffs on your legs right after surgery. On the other hand, it sounds like your surgeon wants to be very safe than very sorry, which is a very good thing. If he thinks you have poor circulation than maybe having these filters put in are a good thing. You dont want to take a chance of forming clots and them spreading. I have heard of people having filters put in and them not feeling a thing but then again I never had them done. Maybe you can post a question on the complication board or something and ask over there for some answers. Again, I am so very happy for you! Take care. Tavia
