Hi everyone, Has any of you noticed that after your surgery you have become sensitive to dairy, lactose intolerant or formed a milk allergy? I never had any problems with dairy nor had any allergies before my surgery but I am assuming having your intestines rearranged will cause strange things to occur. I'm digging deep to try to figure out what is wrong w/me. This still doesnt explain some adbominal pain I feel but it's a step. I think I am going to competely cut out all dairy for awhile to see if that is a problem with me. Tavia

JUST MAKE SURE IF U DONT TAKE ANY TYPE OF DAIRY--U MUST TAKE CALCIUM SUPPLEMENTS---U NEED STRONG BONES--AS FOR ABDOMINAL PAIN MAYBE U MIGHT BE GETTING AN ULSER?--MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU

Hi Tavia, I have had trouble with milk too--I have started drinking lactose free skim milk and it helps . Waldbaum's has it and I haven't had as much trouble since I started drinking it Marian S.C.

Hi Tavia I now have a problem with yogurt. I love yogurt but since being post op I can only eat it at home and NOT at work. Seems it goes right through me if you know what I mean. Milk is iffy---sometimes it bothers me and sometimes it doesn't. Hugs Marianne

I was lactose intolerant before WLS. Try eating yogurt instead of drinking milk; it has acidophilus (sp?) curds and they usually don't bother people who are lactose intolerant. I know from experience, if you cut dairy out completely, it makes it much harder to re-introduce at a later time. That's how I become so intolerant in the first place. Hoping you feel better soon, L*
