Surgery Date Scheduled!!!!
Surgery date is Nov.7 **** is my lucky number ) I have pre-op class and testing on the 27th of Oct. I'll drive from upstate to Mercy Medical in Rockville Centre. Can anyone tell me how far Mercy Medical is from New Hyde Park? I need to make arrangements for the train and then a cab from New Hyde Park. I am really excited that it's been a total of 4 months from initial consult to a surgery date with lots of leg work in between, but all worth it. YAY!

Linda,
Hun congrats on your date... I had Dr Garber as well and you are in great hands, very skilled. I traveled from upstate myself, when I went to his office it was just off the LIE but Mercy is off the Southern State Pkwy. We went the cross island to the Southern state I believe, I am not 100% sure now but try to map quest it. I know it helped me out....
I wish you all the best hun and keep us posted... ~Hugs~

Congratulations Linda,
I know how excited you must be. You're on your way to a new way of life, a wonderful new life. Sorry I can't help with the direction thing, but if you go to mapquest.com you could probably get pretty good info on there. Good luck, may you have a successful surgery and an uneventful and speedy recovery.
Hi Linda,
First of all --congrats. on getting a date!
Mercy medical--which by the way has a nursing school attached--and that means staff galore!: --Is located at exit 19 of the southern state parkway.
I live approximately five minutes from New Hyde Park and Mercy is approximately 15 to twenty minutes from me--But then, I am on the North shore ,and I have to cross over to the Southern State via the Cross Island Parkway.
I assume that you will take the Thruway from upstate. If you know your way to New Hyde Park maybe this map will help.

I am sure that you'll get great care at Mercy--
Be Blessed,

Thank you for the words of encouragement and help with the directions, Marian. I've been on the net and have good directions so far. I am trying to get someone to drive me to the hospital, stay 2 days at a local hotel and then drive me home. Recuperating at home always is more relaxing and comforting. If that is not possible, I'll take the train in from E.Northport and hope that she will be picking me up from Mercy. I'll then rest up a few days at her house (she's a nurse) and train it back to Albany. Not to worry though, everything will work out, which is why prayers are always good. Take care, congratulations on your weight loss so far and I'll keep everyone posted.
