Leftovers

Does anyone have a problem eating leftovers? I cooked some turkey in the slow cooker the other day and ate it just fine the day I cooked it. I tried warming up some in the microwave today and I then tried eating some leftover chicken and more These are foods that were ok just a couple of days ago. I'm not going to try eating leftovers again for a while, I hate throwing up. Please tell me I'm not the only one.

Hi Dee, If it makes you feel any better Dr. Gadaleta(my surgeons partner) told me last week that left-overs are no good. He says left over salad and meat are the worst. If they make you barf then forget them for awhile I guess. Barfing stinks that is for sure. Tavia

Hi Tavia, I had chicken and turkey coming out of my nose! I hate that! Good to see you. Glad you're feeling better.

Hi Dee, I think that perhaps the microwave may be drying the chicken and the turkey out. Perhaps if you heat them on the stove and then add a little broth they would go down easier. I am not an expert but I was told not to try to eat chicken or turkey at first--especially not the white meat--too dry and hard to digest! Be Blessed Marian S.C.

Marian, you have a point. The microwave does tend to dry stuff out. My nutritionist told me I could eat dark meat chicken. I've had quite enough of turkey and chicken for a while. Time to try more moist stuff.

Dee, Hello hun ~hugs~ I do not seem to have a problem with them but I do find myself adding liquid to things if I see they might be to dry. I like using fat free sugar free salad dressings for added moisture, maybe something like that might help with the dryness.. I wish you all the best.. ~hugs~ Debra P 285/209/125??

Hello Deb, I got so excited to be on solid foods and off of purees that I think I was getting ahead of myself I'm backing up a bit and am going to try softer meats. I like the idea of trying ff/sf salad dressings to moisten stuff. I'll give that a try.

Hi Dee If it makes you feel better I too have the same problem at times. I even asked my Dr. why are certain foods ok to eat today but when I eat them as left overs I feel sooooo ????? The answer is this: Leftovers are not good for us to eat because when food is cooled and then reheated there is a chemical breakdown in the already prepared food which is not good for us and causes us to feel The enzymes in the meat etc break down to a level which does not digest well in our bypassed organs. I was advised to stay away from leftovers! Hope this helps you out a bit! Hugs Marianne

Hi Marianne, yes it does help. The problem is that I have to learn to not cook like I did before surgery. Too much food and no one to eat it. I have to cut down on the amount that I'm cooking. I have two whole containers of chicken and turkey still in my refrigerator and now I'm going to throw them out. I'll learn. Thanks!
