Refresh My Memory---Please!
I was able to add caffeine back to my diet after 3 weeks according to my surgeon's protocol. I usually get a latte so that I also get some additional protein from the skim milk. Two issues that may be a concern with caffeine are 1) caffeine-containing beverage consumption has been reported to be associated with reduced bone mass and 2) it is a diruetic (may cause a problem with dehydration).
My personal opinion - there is no harm with caffeine. I don't know how I'd start my day without my coffee

I love coffee and non-fat lattes and drink them regularly.
Like i say, you can take away my M&Ms and cheez doodles but dont dare touch my coffee. I cant begin to think what my life would be like w/out caffeine.

Christine,
You may have a problem with dumping if you drink regular soda. Also, some people have a problem with the carbonation and find it uncomfortable.
I didn't drink regular soda before my surgery (I had diabetes). Personally, if I did drink regular soda before surgery, I wouldn't start back drinking regular soda now. Too many empty calories and it would be easy to hurt your weight lose efforts with the additional calories. Now is the time to start new habits since we've been given this great tool to help with our weight loss.

Thanks for the responses everyone! Basically everyone said the same thing about ulcers and overeating as well as dehydration. I am not a coffee drinker but I have been devouring "CHOCOLATE" lately and must STOP! I know the sugar is a but the chocolate craving is driving me I think the explaination about ulcers is enough to scare me enough to STOP! Besides the fact that it can put weight back on which I don't want. I have to stop cold turkey but can't do it until Tuesday because tomorrow we are going to the Cheese Cake Factory for my Birthday dinner and since my 50th Birthday is Monday I have to set myself up for Tuesday as my goal day for putting an end to this crave insanity, and the milestone to the continuation of a new life and a continuation to the successful use of the tool to this new life. Thanks for the response!
