Hi Evelyn!
I had my initial surgery back in Feb. I started off at about 255 pre-op. (Mind you I'm barely 5'2 and very small framed.) I am embarrassed to say what I weigh now b/c its so little. I have had troubling eating since the beginning and still having a battle but each day it gets easier for me.
On the bummer side, I had post-op pneumonia and flu which literally almost killed me. I dont feel like going into too many details(b/c its depressing and scary) but I have had many complications along my journey and had to have (what am I up to now)4 or 5 surgeries so far to fix some of my issues. Nothing has been my surgeons fault.(watch the eyes),like a leak or staple malfunction. My surgeon was talking about yet another one today but I really have to think about it. I think I might be done for the year w/surgeries, I think I filled my quota. But I'm getting to the point where I dont f'in care anymore. I have been back and forth from that hospital for what it seems forever. I just seems like I drive by there and I end up in there. Mind you, I love my PCP and surgeon but enough is enough. I'm starting to lose my mind from all of this. Sometimes I feel like I'm being punished for deciding to have gastric bypass but everyone(husband, surgeon, pcp, some friends etc) are trying to convince me that isnt true. I tell them spend a day in my shoes and tell me how you feel at the end of the day. Most of the time I do not regret having the surgery but I do have my bad days.
On the positive side, what i have learned through all of this is not to take my health for advantage. I am only 26 years old and I have a 3 year old son. Once I get to 100% again I will never take it for granted. I never will take my husband for granted as well. He has been so good with me and my health problems. He is so supportive and caring, I am deeply debted to him for all of his help. I would have not made it if it wasnt for the care and love of my husband. He still continues to the most supporting and influentual person in my life. He is such a great husband and father, I wouldn't change him in for the world. Sometimes it take a really sh*tty thing to happen(like me getting so sick and still struggling) for someone to realize the great people you have already in your life. This board as well has been such a great support for me and some of the people I have met through it. They are all great around here. I also credit them to helping me get through all of this as well.
Well that is me right now, in a nut shell. I'm glad to have another friendly person around to post! I look forward to getting to know you. Please take care!
