anyone from albany area?
hey everyone, I was wondering if any of you are from the albany area and had surgery with Dr. Singh at albany med. I havent even met with him yet and all of my surgery clearances and paperwork has been going to him . I would really appreciate any feedback on him as a surgeon and the hospital as well. Thanks to anyone that can help.

Hi Karen. Im going to have surgery with Dr. Singh as well. I have met him unofficially when he has come into our support group meetings to chat a little bit with us.
Albany Med is different than alot of other hospitals in that they want you to lose your 10% before you meet Dr. Singh. Have you lost your 10% and if you have, have you contacted Dr. Alger, (if she is your nutritionist)? Once you have lost your 10% and you have seen the nutritionist she should refer you to see Dr. Singh. I really like him but be prepared for him to be tough. He really does seem to care and hes like a drill sargent because he doesnt want people to regret the surgery.
I dont know if youve been to the support group meetings but Ive only missed 2 I think since April. I find them to be very helpful and alot of us have become like family.
Good luck to you.

Hi,
I had dr. singh but at St. Peters. He is WONDERFUL!!
I also attend the support meetings on Tuesday nights at St. Peters. There are folks from both hospitals and dr. Rosati/Singh and even Lorina show up.
You can check my profile for all the sordid details if you are bored. I am down 90 lbs since Jan 17th and that was after a multitude of complications that kept me from losing in the beginning since I was on tube feedings for a while.
Good luck and hope you will stop by our group sometime.

Thank you both, it is very helpful to hear from some local people that are dealing with Dr. singh and his staff. Where I stand right now, I have lost 26 pounds, 5 to go for my 10% and I have had my cardiology clearance, enc=doscopy/GI clearance, leg u/s and blood work. Tonight I have my Psychology appointment for clearance and my pulmonology appointment in early November. I am scheduled to meet with the nutritionist again on November 15. I am seeing Dr. Denning from Albany Clinical Nutrition. I would love to come to the support group on Tuesday evening, could someone please tell me where and when? i have attended the lap-band support group but have since decided to go with bypass. This whole procedure is very confusing and I would really appreciate knowing if I have forgotten anything. thanks again for your helpful information!
