Hi, I have been contemplating WLS for a year or so but until this month it was not an option for me. I have Crohns disease which is totally counterindicated in WLS. I just got out of the hospital after an episode of respiratory arrest. I am 310 pounds, have sleep apnea so bad that I was not allowed out of the hospital till I got the CPAP delivered to my home and set up. I also have HBP that drops too low when I stand up. I have several other issues that have now made the concept of WLS the only option for me. So, I found this site, I knew about it when I went googling a while back. What I would like to learn from all you who have gone thru the process with Dr. Rajeev Vohra at SNCH, is what it was like. What type of things can I expect? I have an appt with the doctor on November 9th, and will be going to the seminar on Nov 16. I know SNCH very well, I have been in and out of it over the years due to my crohns and I adore the nurses, aids, and 99% of the staff. I want to stay at SNCH because of this. I have too many people there that I scared the whatever out of when I arrested to leave them hanging. So, any info and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for listening. Sandra

Sandra, I just wanted to say welcome to the board and best of luck on your journey. ~Hugs~ This is a greatest thing for overweight people but you just have to make sure it is right for you. I am so thankful that I was able to have this done and by a very skilled surgeon. May your journey go smooth. Debra P 285/210/125??

Hello Sandra, I am not near you--but I do want to tell you that I certainly am going to add you to my prayer list. I have some health problems too--and that is the reason that I had the WLS. But my problems are minor compared to yours. Please post often and tell us how you are doing--God bless you and keep you! Whatever you decide to do be blessed. Marian S.C.

Hi Sandra, I also do not live in an area near you but want to wish you the very best love and support. If you ever need to just talk or vent, feel free to e-mail me. I do not have Crohns but have a very dear friend who does so can sympathize with what you are going through. I did however start my journey at 310 lbs, same as you. I had surgery on May 18th, 2005, 4-1/2 months ago and have now lost 70 lbs as of this morning. What a new lease on life I have (I'm sure anyone on this site will tell you the same thing.) You won't believe how much better you will feel. You take care and please know that we will always be here for you. Cindee 310/240/?

Hi Sandra, I read a post yesterday on the main message board that there is a board somewhere on this website for gastric bypass patients with Crohns. You may want to research it because you would be able to find people with issues close to yours. Good luck to ya! Claire
