First post-awaiting surgery

Here is where I am at. Had 1st consult with Dr. Mecenas (Ithaca NY) last month. I originally started this process in April and had an appointment with a Dr. in Johnson City NY. Found out in July- no longer doing surgery. Already had seen a nutritionist twice and a social worker and had pcp letter of necessity. Started process over. Just had visit with nutritionist in Ithaca-she is recommending me for the surgery. She said her report will go to Dr. in 1 week. Have been to one support group meeting in Ithaca and attend 2nd 10/17 and have 3rd appt with social worker. The MSW has not written her evaluation yet- despite several PC and typed letter. So I made an appt on 10/17 to request it in person. HOPING to have surgery in DEC. It seems like a long road but I am navigating through it. I have been in contact with the INS co. and I almost have everything needed for preapproval. Waiting for Nutritionist and MSW letters. Since Dec I have lost 17 lbs under a Dr. directed WL program( a requirement of the INS. co.) Thanks, for listening.

Tara...I am also from Binghamton and I've had a hard time too. I was set to have the surgery here in april, just to find out that my Dr. discontinued doing it also. I am currently going to Dr. Graber out of Utica, and my date is Nov. 10th. I was scheduled to go on Oct. 5th, but came down with a terrible cold the night before, so it had to be postponed. Good luck with everything, I know it's frustrating, but just be persistent. Keep us posted!
