Hello Liz; Welcome to the board. I am also a pre-op and my doctor in Buffalo is Dr. L. Forbes at Buffalo General Hospital. She is the best doctor. She is very tough and very through. She loves to talk, but at my first visit it took 3 hours. Good luck. Karen

Hi Liz, Welcome to the N.Y. Forum!! I am in New York City, Queens Village--so I can't refer you to a doctor. But I can give you some tips on choosing a really good surgeon. First and foremost--make sure that the surgeon has a top notch back-up team. Nutritionist, bariatric nurse coordinator, psychologist, physical therapy specialist And make sure that he requires a full battery of tests--including an ekg, cath scans, sonigram, sleep apnea study, exercise evaluation, abdominal ultrasound /upper G.I. series/ Venus Duplex/ chest X-rays. Who ever you choose make sure that he or she is meticulous and cautious. I was very happy (after the fact) that the Long Island Jewish weight management center and Dr. Malholtra made me go through so many tests. Because my surgery couldn't have gone any smoother. It is a hassle to take so many tests and you feel like a chicken with your head cut off --running around to this place and that. But the care that is taken is worth it--because the result is a picture perfect surgery! and that is the most important thing !!! Be Blessed, Marian S.C.
