My name is Sarah I'm 22 years old and I have a son named Anthony who is 10 months old. We live in Central NY. I had my surgery on Sept 7th I had Roux en Y surgery. My starting weight was 264 and I am now down to 240 so 24 pounds and I am now down a size to I have been wearing jeans that haven't fit me in over a year and a half. I have lurking for about a week and have find alot of great info and enjoy reading your profiles. I have a few ?'s too. I have had NO ENGERY at all is this normal?? I want for a cheack up yesterday and he gave me a B-12 shot and said that should perk me up I sure hope so. I have read on her that your doc's have you taking protin drinks mine does not want me too. Do you think if I started taking one it would give me some engery?? I look forward to getting to know you guys. Sarah

Sarah, Hello hun and welcome ~hugs~ I bet just the fact that you have a 10 month old is enough to keep you tired. well I am glad that you are taking the B12 and I guess it might take some time to get into your system but I am not sure with the shots. I take the pill that goes under your tongue every morning and it seems to help some. I know my surgeon wanted the protein shakes because at the beginning you can not get enough protein out of the food because you eat so little to start start with. I am not sure if they give you energy. maybe someone else can answer that. Why did your Dr not want you to take them if I can ask? I know that every Dr is different. I know lack of Iron can make you tired as well but did you have blood work done yet? well welcome again hun and post anytime... ~Hugs~ Debra P 285/215/125??

Well I didn't ask. But my aunt had it done in 2000 and he didn't want her to drink them either. She said it's because you can gain weight drinking them. She did it anyways and just had that for a meal. I was just wondering about it because so many ok just about everyone on this board drinks them. so I didn't know I think that I'm just going to try them. Sarah

Hi Sarah, Welcome!!!! I'm glad your out of lurking mode. Yes...it sure does feel great to go down in sizes. Give yourself a chance to heal and recupperate....and before you know it you'll have loads of energy.....It can take awhile. You just went through major surgery. I thought I started to feel ok around the 6th week, but then I went back to work and realized my energy level was still low...at first I felt like I had to lie down after work...but then a few weeks later I was feeling real good....We are all different, and we all heal differently....give yourself some time. Welcome from the lurkin to an official poster! I would follow what your doctor recommends totally. YOUR not that far out from your surgery date, it took me about 6 weeks to not get so energy wiped daily. IT will get better and im sure your doing alot with a 10 month old. I had to nap early post op when my 2 year old napped. NOW i have much energy it will get better! MOST get tons of energy. ALL the best ((HUG)) LISA 310/216/onderland

Hi, Sarah! It's fairly normal to be tired after surgery. Give yourself some time. About the B12 shots, I believe Dr. Oh gives them to all his patients. I could be mistaken! I've met some people who are patients of Dr. Oh at a support group in Syracuse at the Hazard branch library on West Genesee St. The next meeting is Tuesday Oct. 4 at 6:30. Anyone is welcome to attend. Take care, Jo

sarah - first off welcome !!! my advise to you is give yourself some time, you just had major surgery, that plus you have an infant no wonder you are tired. what helped me alot was getting up and moving. the more i moved the better i felt. trust me it does get better. donna
