Hi Everyone: I have huge trash bags of clothes needing a home -- I would like to donate them to the Katrina Victims but need a CHEAP way to get them there -- does anyone know of anyone taking things down, or kind shippers, et****ep hearing they need large sizes and its frustrating to look at these bags and know there are people with nothing to wear down there.... help?

Marla, I have the same problem. My bag is riding around with me in the trunk of my car. I was told that the Red Cross & Salvation Army are not taking clothes at this time. I don't know what to do either Linda

My friend went to donate clothes and furniture and was told they do not need them. There was a huge warehouse of clothes being stored from donations and on tv they announced the warehouse was going to be emptied to the landfill to make room for the food storage. That really made me angry because of how many clothes there were and people could have given them to someone who could use them. Hugs Chris

Marla, I had the same problem and I just gave mine to the Red Cross (long story with giving them my clothes to begin with). You can check with a local VFW or some vet organization because I know some of them are having trailer loads of stuff being sent. It might be worth a shot! The Red Cross can only take money at this point so they are out. I gave mine to them because when I had my house fire in Jan they did not have but 1 plus size shirt to give me so now they have 4 bags full and the lady that helped us out has them at her house. The others in the office could not really care. She was a God send when we had our fire!!! Well best of luck hun ~hugs~ Debra P 285/215/125??

Hello Everyone Has anyone tried getting the clothes to a church or the Salvation Army??? Contact the NYS Emergency Management Office and see if they can give you any help in getting things down there. Of course, they will probably rather give them money to buy new clothes rather than take donations. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. {{{HUGS}}} Brenda
