Capital District Area NY

Hi, I am frustrated with my PCP. She knows absolutely nothing about WLS (I am 1 year post op) Does anyone know of a WLS experienced PCP in the greater capital district area? (Albany and surrounding area) Thanks in advance Michele 338/148/130ish

Michelle, I would recommend that you ask your PCP to give you a referral to Albany Clinical Nutrition and let the dr's there start the ball rolling for you on the WLS. My pcp just handed me all the referrals and Dr. Michalek at ACN took care of the rest. She is awesome. You may also ask her to take you on and have her be your PCP. She deals with WLS patients all day and is great to work with. Good luck Mary

If you had your WLS in the Albany area you could ask your WL surgeon for a refferal. If you are new to the area. I would re- phrase your post: Looking for Primary Care Physician. Another way is to check into the hospitals that do WLS see if you can get a refferal from one of the surgeons there. Don't give up. You have to get your aftercare where you need it to be. Michele, I saw Dr. Michalek this week from Albany CLinical Nutrition. I asked her if she knew any PCP's that were saavy to WLS surgery. She recommended Dr. Jill Braverman-Panza. Here is her info.
