I can't believe it! 3 more days until my surgery! I am meeting with my PCP this afternoon for final clearance (my surgeon sent me copies of my cardiac clearance letter so I'm set.) I just can't believe it. I am so excited, scared and anxious all at the same time. I have a baby shower in a little bit, need to leave there early to get to my doc appt, then my mom is taking me for a pedicure so I have pretty feet in the hosp, THEN we're going shopping for my mushy foods and vitamins, and then we're having leftover spaghetti and meatballs! YUMMY! Wish me luck guys....I'm nervous!

Erin, Good Luck! I hope everything goes well for you. You will be fine. I am pretty sure you cant have your nails painted while you go under general. Your surgeon should have told you that. But you can still get a pedi w/out polish you know? They need to see your nails in case they get blue which means lack of oxygen. This is one of the reasons they knew i was going into respitary failure during my second surgery. Anyway enjoy the shopping and spaghetti!!!! Yummy Tavia

I was where you are last year, b/c the day you begin your new life I will be celebrating my 1 year anniversary. I can tell you that everything went smoothly both during the surgery and post-op. Dr.Garber , Dr.Holover and Donna are great. As to your shopping for mushy foods, I can tell you that post-op I ate a lot of farina, grits, yogurt, cottage cheese and corned beef hash. I strongly recommend that you purchase the protein drink mixes from Dr.Garber's office b/c what they will send you home with from the hospital is not so tasty, in fact I still have a can in my cupboard. Good luck

You sound really great and let me tell you, as much as you think you are prepared, something else you didnt expect occurs- but its all good! Don't let your nerves get the best of you or second guess yourself. You have waited and coordinated this- and Ive seen many people go from PreOps to PostOp (myself included) and be happy and well and feel better within a week after surgery. I know you are going to be in the best hands with the best surgical team! You'll have a lot to look forward to! I am -30lbs & just few days past a month out- and Im noticing I can drink more water than I used to! WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST & A SPEEDY RECOVERY!! SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE!!
