Hello everybody - My sister-in-law turned me on to this site and I love it!! This is awesome! Anyway - Found a doctor - found a hospital!! Working on the appointment to see the doctor. Phone Interview? - what is that all about? Whatever. The whole process that I keep hearing about is very overwhelming to me. Dr's, Nutritionists, Psych evals - is it worth it in the end all the P.I.T.A that you go through? So now I have pretty much decided to go ahead and do this. I am so tired of being the "big girl" - You see, I am 5'10" and 270lbs and carry the weight pretty well. Now they say that I am built like a brick **** house , but Jesus who would want to be compared to that! Any suggestions, tips, ideas to make this process easier would be greatly appreciated. From what I have read all over this site, you guys are the most supportive bunch I have ever seen. Mary

Mary, Hun welcome to the NY board. This board is awesome for support and caring. ~hugs~ Congrats on taking the first steps on this awesome journey. I am only a little over 3 months out and I would do it again in a heart beat! This is a roller coaster ride for sure but once you start to move forward in your weight loss you will know you did the right thing. Hun just take on day at a time and one Dr appt at a time, before you know it you will be done and waiting for a surgery date. What helped me was making a list of the Dr's I needed to see and check each one off as I seen him/her. It seemed to really help. Take care Debra P 285/221/125??

Hi Mary, I'm Cindee and I'm from Rochester too. I had my surgery in May and didn't even start this journey until February. My surgeon was Dr. Jennifer Griffith from Parkridge Hospital. She was absolutely wonderful. Her office is in the Professional Building at Parkridge along with Dr. Iannoli (I hear he's also wonderful). Parkridge has a support group meeting twice a month and it's very informative. If you'd like to talk off-line let me know and I'll send you my phone number. As for all the appointments, with Dr. Griffith it went really quickly. My first appt with her was the end of February, I had my psych eval, nutrionist appt and an appt with a cardio doctor in the month of March, received approval from my insurance company in April and had my surgery on May 18th. This site is wonderful. Postings are replied too quickly and are always to helpful, friendly and encouraging. Have a good day.

Hi Cindee!! It sounds like your journey was a very quick one. I should be so lucky. I have a phone interview with Dr. Galvin's office (RGH) on Monday. Should be interesting. I hear that he insists on the 3 months of nutritionists thing. I can see where he is coming from, but geez..... I've already done that. I mean I will go to all the appointments that he wants, but I just want to get on with the rest of my life. When are those support groups? Would love to attend. Mary
