Help, Im so nervous
My surgery is Thursday, Im a wreck, It was supposed to have been on the 6th of September but I had to reschedule as my daughters ex-husband and father of her children passed away suddenly, he was only 29, went to bed and never woke up, my grandchildren are only 5 and 6. It was a very difficult time. It was a fairly nice divorce for the children sake, and they are having a really rough time now.
I feel like Im getting cold feet, but I just keep trying to think how great it will be in a few months. Im really scared is this normal.
Question, when I went for my pre-op appointment at Albany Med, they said you cant wear any jewelery, and of course my rings dont come off because I gained so much weight since I got them, they said I had to have them cut off prior to surgery anyone else have to do this. Of course I'll do it, but I hate to take my wedding bands off.
Im having Dr. Rosati, does anyone know what an estimate time off from work is. He does the open surgery.
Hi Theresa, I am sorry your family has had such a rough time.He was so young. I'm sure your nerves must be frayed big time. Take some really big deep breaths. I am sure you have waited a long time for this day. The power of positive thinking and some prayers will get you through this.
As far as your rings I went to a jeweler to have them them removed. They had a special cutter and did not wreck them. If they do it in hospital it may be hard to fix later. This way it is cut neater and it was easier to have them put back together. Does your husband wear a ring that is bigger? Since it bothers you maybe you could wear his. As long as it fits alright. I have always worn my wedding ring during surgery.
As far as time off I would ask the Drs. office that question. They have a pretty good idea how much time the average person needs off. Of course everyone is different so leave your self extra time.
I have had so many surgeries in my life and especially the last 5 years and I am a wreck for all of them. This is normal. I have not had this surgery yet but my screening is on the 27th with Dr Singh.
Good wishes,
Janet
So sorry to hear the family is going through some tough time.....and in time all wounds heal.....but the lost of a parent is always very difficult.....
You big day is almost here.....it is very normal to be nervous before surgery especially with the emotional lost of loved ones.....maybe not your but your grandchildren and I'm sure you feel for them.....just take a few deep breaths and relax....think of why you decided to have theis surgery in the first place and all the things you hope to accomplish after surgery.....I wish you the best of luck in your journey....

Well try to relax....i found my self pre op cleaning like a nesting mom does couldnt stop. Rearrangeing furniture all those things to help pass the nerves. BUT my blood pressure sky rocketed and then was put on meds 2 weeks pre op so that calmed me big time. Then i slept well. I too had to move my surgery out a week due to no one being free to watch my kids while i was in the hospitol. So i can relate....
As for your rings, all surgery i ever had i never wore any jewelry. If its what your surgeon said to have the rings cut off you better do as he told you. DAY of surgery you dont want some thing like a ring on your finger that you didnt cut off cancel the surgery! THAT would be devastating.
MAKE sure the info to remove the ring is from your surgeon.
GOOD LUCK!
Best wishes for a great surgery

Every surgery that I have ever had they didnt let me wear jewlery....I think that they do it just in case you need an MRI...and to prevent not so honest hospital workers from ripping you off while you are out of it
Theresa, Hi my name is karyn, I live in north greenbush, not far from you, and I am working with Dr. Singh from Albany med. My PCP actually referred me to Dr. Rosati because I was getting frustrated with all the things I have had to go through just to get a consult. I finally got my appointment with Dr Singh for October 4 so i guess I will stick with him. Anyhow, good luck, Thursday...I am sure you have waited a long time for this day so dont let nerves upset you. I would love to know how long it took you to go through everything, and how you do after surgery. Keep in touch if you would!
I went to Dr. sings Seminar in January, but in Feb decided on Dr. Rosati, He said I was ready in June, but my husband and I planned a 2 week trip to Hawaii for the Middle of August, and after discussion decided to hold off on the surgery until after the trip.
I will check back as soon as possible, good luck in your process.
