alright, so i'm 15 years old, and i weigh 311, my BMI is over 40, this is killing me, i can't do anything with my friends because of my weight problem, its not even that hurting me phsyically, its all mental at the moment i have reduced myself to actually cutting, i only did it once because i was told that it helped, it didn't waste of time and the most stupid decision i ever made, i went to my doctor the next day, after school, no appointment nothing, i had to tell someone, we were in the the process of getting things moving with the surgery but i can't wait almost a year to hear anything, he said because of my situation he will take it into his own hands and it should be about a month and a half for something to happen, i am releaved but still feel soooooooo bad, i don't know what to do, is there anything that anybody did that i can do to prevent myself from doing something stupid again? and a another question, extra skin after the surgery, if you excersize you won't have that will you? thats what i'm scared of

Brandon, If noone has suggested this before, let me be the 1st. You need to get into councelling, and work with a therapist who deals with teens. It will give you someone to talk to, so when you feel like you're at the end of your rope, there is always someone to listen. Talking about things really does help. When you feel like you just can't stand the pain anymore, stop & remind yourself, that this feeling will pass. Don't allow yourself to act, because when the feeling passes, you will find a way to get by a little longer. And as time goes by, your situation should be improving, especially with the help of your doctor. If you don't have insurance for therapy, most mental health clics operate on a sliding scale & will charge you accordingly. Please keep in touch & let me know how you're doing, I care. Linda

Brandon, I jsut saw that you live in Walton. Go to the Delaware Co. mental health clinic in town if you can't find a therapist privately. Linda

Hello Brandon, Welcome to the NY board. ~hugs~ I have to agree with Linda, go and talk to someone. It will really help!!! That is great that you have a surgeon that will help you out this having the surgery. Hun I sure hope the best of you and please keep us posted as to how you are doing and moving along. Please go and talk to someone and let them help. We pretty much all have/had something called a "destructive personality" since we let ourselves go and gain the weight, we all need to find out why so you are not alone with this. As far as the skin goes, that is really so different for each person and being your young yet it might be a little better for you then for some of us that are older. It also differs from the amount of weight one has to lose. I was so worried about that prior and I will do worry but hey I am feeling so much better that it sure out weighs the extra skin. I will have PS in the future to get rid of it but not for a while. I am still new to this right now. Take care hun ~hugs~ Debra P 285/224/125??

Hi Brandon, I agree with the others, you should find someone locally to help you wtih this cutting issue. Continuing on this path may even exclude you from having surgery so make your last cutting incident your LAST EVER. In terms of skin, your age is truly on your side. Just do your excercising and I bet it will be fine. (No smoking either, by the way. Smoking makes your skin less elastic.) Keep us posted here on the NY board with your progress. Stephen
