NYC Area Katrina Dropoff Locations?

I have a ****load of clothes size 14 and up ... Some still with tags on them ... I also have several pieces of substantial furniture ... In our minds, we have all ready earmarked these things for Katrina victims. It seems all anyone wants or will take is cash and we intend to do that too but it frustrates me that they'll take cash and purchase items that I can donate ... I'd rather the cash be spread wider and help these people get a solid start (like housing and food, etc) ... All of the clothes we would donate are ready to wear and will hold up for years. Anyone have any input on this? TIA ... MM

I agree with you. My 17 year old daughter went through her clothes and is donating them to the hurricane victims. We have a drop off location at one of our banks. My MIL said she heard they are in need of new under clothing. No one seems to donate that. Hugs Chris

Melissa, Yes this is my frustration as well hun as I went to give my clothes to the Red Cross and they said NO, they wanted money ONLY. I really do want to wait until the lady came back from vacation at the Red Cross that I have been talking to and that helped me because she really did want the plus sized clothes but if I knew there was a drop off for "stuff" I would LOVE to help......If you hear anything hun please let me know! ~hugs~ Take care Debra P 285/225/125??

They announced a drop off center for clothes but it's in Jamiaca Queens, too far for me to lug my clothes. If you hear of someplace in Mahantan, let me know.
