back from 'blood dr'

She took a whole bunch of blood samples and is sending it away for tests. She said will have them back no later than monday! I really feel fine (expect for food getting stuck in my throat all the time) I do not have any problems besides asthma, so she thinks it might be something to do with my incision. (Whatever is what I say about that.) Dr. Gellman said just to stick w/a liquid diet(chicken broth here I come...again!)so nothing else gets stuck. Hopefully the rest of the weight will come off easy now. She also told me to come back on friday and she will redo my white blood cell count and see if its normal. If it is then I am good to go b/c the hospital just needs one recent test result w/ a normal count. Anyway, let me ask you guys are question. How would you feel if a medical doctor told you that he had an 'idea' for people considering gastric bypass. He said(in a 'joking' manner) "Call me crazy but maybe they should just get their months wired shut and drink from a straw until they lose the weight?" Also how would you feel if this doctor was a doctor(not doing WLS surgeon) in the same practice as your WLS surgeon? He said this b/c I was dicussing all of my complications I had and how I am having some more, this is what "set him of" to say his comment. Some people can be so cruel(even will no ill-intention). Next time I speak to my surgeon and Yvonne I am going to tell him word to word the conversation I had with this "doctor". Sheesh. Tavia 255/147/125

Tavia, Hope all goes well for you, sweetie. As for the "Dr.", what an idiot, not to use another word. I would definately let your surgeon know about his little comment. I would feel the same way you did. Good Luck! Carmen

Joanne, No it was not Dr. Nadjari, never. He is too much of a gentleman to say something like that. I saw Dr. Nadjari Weds.(or maybe it was tues.) and he is looking thinner and tanner than ever. I like Dr. Nadjari b/c I only have to pay my copay(15) to see him unlike Gellman/Gadatela who are costing me 150 a visit now. I do want to even think what this bill will be when everything is said and done. This topic is a WHOLE other one all together. Back to the topic at hand...To be honest I do not remember this Dr. name. It is one of these names that is hard to remember if you dont hear it all the time. I would have to see a list to point it out or something. I know he is a colon surgeon and an attending doctor on the surgical floor at North Shore. He is kind of young and wears stupid bow ties all the time. He looks like that guy on that CNN show 'Crossfire' (I believe that is what it's called). Another thing he said was "Oh I don't do those(WLS) types of surgeries" He said "those" in a real snooty way. Tavia

Tavia, Hun I hope it all comes back as normal for you and you can get on with your other surgery to get this taken care of. I am know it must be frustrating for sure. I would tell your surgeon for sure but try to remember that people have different senses of humor, even though it sounded wrong maybe he meant no harm. I think people should pay attention to what they say but some just like to speak without thinking first! I also think we all have said something we wish we could take back. You would also think that a Dr working with WLS patients should be a little more sensative to what he says. Good thing to talk to your surgoen hun. Dear Debra, I do understand that sometimes people say things before thinking, this is why I didn't poke him in the eyes right then and there. It just kind of dumbfounds that a medical doctors response to me telling him how many issues I am having is to have my jaw wired shut. sheesh! Anyway, I am so hungry! This liquid diet stinks! I know how frustrationg it can be listening to a doctor say these things.....when I told my pcp that I wanted to have WLS he was so against it he said that is a man mad surgery...not an act from god....so I told him....he is a doctor cause of man not because of god...and I left him and never went back to see him ....I had a hard time to find a pcp to work with me.....for my supervised 6 month diet.....that was wls friendly...I would tell your surgeon about it.....cause this is a sensitive subject .....and the surgeons are very.....how can I say this.....sensitive and caring to not insult us.....we already know we have a problem.....so report him...... Christine, That is really horrible what your PCP said...a mad man surgery?!? . Sounds like he is the mad man for being such an educated yet ignorant man. Sheesh!! I will tell my surgeon next time I speak w/him which probably will be monday. Thanks for the advice! Take care. Tavia 255/146/125?

Hi Tavia I tried to post to you last night but something went wacky either with my computer or OH site had some difficulties... I'm not quite sure which ! All is okay now though . First of all I am glad to hear that you are feeling fine other than getting food stuck ! Second , I hope your blood test come back good so you can get this surgery and hopefully you can end this very challenging chapter in your life ! Third , I would have told that Dr. to !@#%^&*()!!!!!!!** .... you know what I mean ! He is in the wrong perfession , Don't you think ? I don't blame you for being !!
