I was back to work in 12 days. HOWEVER, i work in my home doing family daycare and those weeks was before summer break when i was able to nap while the daycare kids napped and it helped. HOW much time you take off also depends on what kind of work you and what your doctor also recommends. We all heal differently and have different tolerances. A person with a laboring job verses a person who sits at a desk and works might have different back to work times...what sort of work do you do??? LISA

You should ask your surgeon. He might require a certain number of days. I had open RNY and my doctor recommended 6 weeks. It ended up being 3 months, because of complications, but that's another story. Joanne

I was back to work and feeling great 10 days after my open RNY! As long as there is no lifting and moving of stuff, what the heck? I could sit around and type at home, so I figured I might as well be getting paid, right?

Pat, I went back to work after 4 weeks. I could probably have gone back after 3 weeks; but the 4th week make a huge difference in my energy level. I did start working from home after a few days. That wasn't too bad because I didn't have to commute and I could do an hour or two at a time and then rest. Mary 302/199.75/1??

Patricia, I would check with your Dr first but I took the 3 weeks off, the 4th week I came back 1/2 days. It seemed to help coming back part time to start, I was so nervous about what foods I should eat without getting sick at work. It all went well and I just kept to the foods that I knew were ok and now I have become a little bit more brave. Well take care hun ~Hugs~ Debra P 285/227/125??

I took a leave for 4 weeks, I wanted to come back in 2 weeks but my hubby and doctor wouldn't let me so I came back in three weeks.... Do ask your surgeon......he will be the best to tell you how long to take off.... I wish you the best ... Christine 346/231/?

I was back in 3 weeks. I commute an hour and a half, so I was very tired the first week back. Linda
