My time is almost here!!
Hi all, I am 2 and 1/2 weeks away from my surgery and the start of taking back my life. I have to admit I am nervous. I guess I'd of be crazy if I wasn't but all the same I am scared. I know all about the procedure and what to do before, during and after. This helps a little. If any one has some advice I would sure welcome it... thanks Ann
Ann,
Congratulations on your approval! Surgery is coming very soon for you...all the best. I am a patient of Dr. Galvin, and I feel that his patients get so much information/knowledge from his staff, as far as before, during and after wls. I have been seeing Julie every month since April and she has helped, encouraged and put fears at bay when I expressed that I may not be successful on this journey, due to past experiance. I also am a member of a support group and have learned so much from all the post-op members. I am so ready for this surgery and new life style, just wish insurance felt the same! My case is in appeal with PC and today I am going to place a call to see how it's going! My tentative date is 10/24.
All the best,
Lucy

Ann,
Congrats, your BIG day is almost here. I know for me I had so many feelings all at once. I was scared, nervous and excited. Right after I mourned food so bad that I thought I would never get over it but all is well and life is getting better as I drop the weight. It can be a rough time so just remember, it really does get better. ~Hugs~ Take time to just sit and relax, think things over and remember to smile. If ya need anything just let me know. ~Hugs~
Take care

hi Ann,
i am so glad you are almost there! I have to admit most of the time it gets worse before it gets better, so keep that in mind. Do not be afraid to speak up at the hosptial if you need to and dont be shy in asking pain meds. This sounds silly but when you see how busy everyone around you is, you will kind of stupid asking but DONT! The best advice I can give is get up and walk walk walk right away. I know it will hurt, trust me I know. I had blood dripping down my legs from my incision and my gown was soaked but I kept on walking. It is very important for your lungs. Do deep breathing and cough, keep away that bad pneumonia that almost did me in. Please keep us posted!!! I will be praying for you!

Thank you all so much for your reply's. I can't wait but I can too. I also have Dr. Galvin as my MD. I really like him and his staff too. I would like to be sure that I'll be able to ask for anything from the hospital, but I am not sure! Time will tell. Thank you all for the support - it really makes me feel like I am not alone. Ann
