I told my boss!!!
Well, I finally went up to school today and told my boss about me having my surgery in September. She was absolutely fine with it! She agreed that it was a bad time of year, but understood that I need to have it done. I told her about needing the 2nd day of school off for pre-op testing. She was a bit concerned, but said we will deal with it. Wow...what a relief! She was wonderful. Then we just talked about our summers and what we've been up to.
Thank you all for your kind words of advice. It really helped me get through today. I was so nervous!!!
OMG Erin, I just realized that your sugery date is the same date as mine, except September 21st will be my one year anniversary. I too had to take time off from school for my surgery. My principal and assistant principal were fine with it as well as all my co-workers wishing me only the best. I was advised by my Dr. to stay out of work for six weeks only because I work on the HS level with Special Ed students in BOCES and because I am a job coach for our students who are employed in the community, Dr. Adaniel did not want me to do any lifting etc, or have to deal with any unforseen cir****tances with any student (behavioral etc.) I went back to work just before Thanksgiving break! LOL I felt wonderful and I was glad to be back. Take the time you need. I don't know what level you teach but do not rush yourself. You don't want to wind up back in the hospital.
I keep thinking that one year ago today I weighed 265 lbs and today I am at my Dr.'s goal of 155--I have lost 110 lbs. I went from a size 22 pants, 26/28 shirt, to a size 12/14 pants, L-XL shirt (depending on how clothes are designed and cut). I am now one of the thinnest women in work compared to last year being one of the heaviest.
Good Luck, and keep in touch if you should have any questions.
Hugs
Marianne
