Difficulty thinking about anything other than WLS

Howdy, All - I'm pre-op, scheduled for 9/30. I'm having difficulty focusing on anything other than WLS. I'm living/lurking on 3 boards, re-reading every book and article I've already read, daydreaming about good/bad things that might/could happen during and post surgery, etc., etc., etc. I'm driving myself nuts, and it's a very short drive LOL! Did any of you have difficulty focusing on other things, like, oh, work, for instance? Thanks...I feel better just 'fessing up. Mary Mc

Dear Mary, Funny you should write about this today. I have not been able to sleep for 3 nights now -- I'm hoping tonight is better. Between all my pre-op doctors's appts. I have 4 this week -- it started out with just a psych eval and nutritionist. Since then I've met with my pcp 2 or 3 times -- i have a nuclear stress this this week that 2 day, echocardiogram, my pcp, my new therapist and last week it was the pulmo and colonoscopy. I'm exhausted just writing this down. but only a few more appts and then for the approval process. I think I'm just getting nervous because it's getting closer and closer. I have two young children that I'm nervous about, my husband and probably another 100 things that runs through my head -- "the committee of maniacs" that lives there. Last year as I was preparing for surgery I did the exact same thing that you are doing. I was here on the message board, reading every bit of material I could find. Discussing everything with my family, doctors and therapist. In fact after the surgery it felt so odd not to readily be on the message board (couldn't sit at the computer). But once I was able to I was then exploring everything about being post-op, from foods to pains to plastic surgery. So no you are not alone. Good luck with your surgery.

Mary, Hun I have to say that before my surgery that is ALL I thought about, it was so bad I got to the point that I did not want to go anywhere until after my surgery. I thought about it ALL the time hun and know that after the surgery and you get back into life again, you feel so much better and life is some what back to normal. I was reading and taking notes as well, finally I had to put a stop to it because it was driving me crazy and I was worrying about EVERYTHING! So hun take a break and try to find something else to focal on, it sure helped for me. I took some short day trips, sat and read (other things). Sure seemed to help...... ~Hugs~ Best of luck hun. Hi Mary, I am pre-op also. I have a date of September 12th (pending insurance approval). I feel the same way...but I am really trying not to believe that it is really going to happen until I actually get approved. At that point, my head just might pop off!! But how can we not be obsessed with something that we hope will change our lives forever?!!!! Sounds to me like it is perfectly normal!! But try and offset dwelling on it with things that are calming like soft music, journaling, and taking a hot bath !! Since my date is first, remind me of what I just said to you!! LOL Hugs, Dawn

Hi! I too am doing the same thing! I hear we all are! lol Yes, we can drive ourselves crazy, I know I am! lol Anyway my surgery is this tues, the 23rd of August! Can't wait...got to stop looking at the clock every min, lol Good luck to you...and i too used to live in Queens...LIC in fact... Denise :
