Blueshield of Northeastern NY & 6 month diet???
Hi,
Just curious if anyone has this and what your approval time was like? Also does anyone have any way of getting by the 6 month supervised diet? I was on Meridia for 2 months in thefall and then I was on WW for 3 months, then started LA Weightloss. DO you know if the 6 months needs to be consecutive?

I also have the same insurance as you do, they approved me for my first Plastic Surgery in 3 days to have a lower body lift. Now I am having a upper body lift done and they were really bad about paying for this one. I was turned down because I didnt have any documentation for 8 months of rash and other problems, so I started to go every month to have it charted and when 8 months were up I tried again. They turned me down a second time and then I appealed and had that over turned but it took three letters from my PCP two from the plastic surgeon and two from me. I have heard they are really tough on the documentaion thing so I think thats why they gave me such a hard time. That and I think they were hoping I would give up but didnt, so next month on the 7th I am going for my second plastic surgery in Albany. As for my Bypass surgery I was living in California and BC of California approved me in two days with that and I had no 6 month diet stuff but I heard it has gotten harder to get approvals since I had my surgery over 2 1/2 years ago. I know of someone else that has BS of NENY and they had to do the 6 month diet thing and was told that there was no way around it. Hope it helped and keep trying and dont give up and you will get approved like I did.

I had Blueshield out out PA and they required 6 month diet. They were very strict with it. I was scheduled for surgery 8 days before my 6 month supervised diet was over and they denied me. It took a call from my lawyer to get them to approve me. It happened 45 minutes after they got her call.
For me the 6 months had to just have occurred within the past 3 years and it had to be under a dr. supervision, weigh****chers, LA weightloss, Jenny Craig didn't count.
