Intro and question about approval [GHI-CBP] after final denial [longish]

Hello everyone, I'm sm, a 35yo mom who's trying desperately to get approved for WLS with CORI. I have been told I have met all the GHI criteria, yet under questionable management of my paperwork by the ever-changing CORI staff, I was continually denied for stuff I had [the last denial said I didn't have medical clearance, when I had it from at least 2 MD's]. Anyway, I was told by CORI staff the next step was an external appeal, but when I tried for it the process was denied because it wasn't filed within 45 days of my first denial, not my FINAL denial. So basically, I'm hanging in limbo with no surgery in sight. I am trying to take a more proactive approach in dealing with the matter. I am going to call GHI directly and see if I can get any answers, and I have spoken with my PCP and she is willing to sign any letter I write up advocating my case to GHI. So I am looking for a few sample letters to guide me in what specifically to write. Anyone know where I could find such a thing? Thanks in advance for reading this far! xosm

Hi, First off Im sorry that you have been having problems being Approved. However, i would talk to the Surgeon its their job to submit the paperwork and advise you what other Testing is required. When I went to my Surgeons office he handed me a list of Dr's the I needed clearance from. Once I did them he submitted it to insurance and I was approved in 2 days. Just a Suggestion Louis

Thank you for your reply. I did get a list from CORI and had/did everything on the list, and was still denied. Then I did another 6 months of medically supervised weightloss because there was a question if the history I had was 'consecutive', and I still got denied. There is some question if CORI staff submitted everything properly because back then I had several different coordinators who left, got fired or changed jobs, but regardless I have a 'FINAL denial' from GHI dated 6/05. I was just hoping to reapply to GHI with better organized information and a good letter from my doc. I was hoping to find a link here for sample letters, I will keep looking. Thanks again! xosm
