Hi all What do you guys suggest? I am having surgery soon , but the nutristionist suggested a high protein diet because my liver is slightly enlarged and I need to shrink it before the actual surgery. One on the requirements of this diet, is protein shakes.... Any suggestion which ones taste good?

How about the Atkins diet? They have shakes that taste pretty good. they were too high in sugar for me. Post op I can opnly drink 2 proteins. Matrix 5.0 and Protein delight vanilla very berry and Alpine chocolate. both can be purchased on susan Maria's website! Good luck Michele

Hi there...I actually bought the protein sampler pack with shaker from www.bariatriceating.com. This way I can have packets and decide which ones I like. I bought a big thing of protein powder before I found that website and it was DISGUSTING! There are plenty that taste pretty good. And as my nutritionist said....the diet is "Meat, cheese, vitamins and water." I ate plenty of deli meat and cheese. Good luck! I'm on my way to surgery Now! Suzanne

I followed atkins pre op for the same reasons. I dropped 24 lbs before surgery and now when added to my weight losses post op my number is great. DO a clean induction......u can visit the Atkins.com site for information on it. ITs lo carb and high protein. GOOD LUCK. I do used the ready made advantedge shakes and i buy them in walmart. I find them the best for my meals when i am on the go and need something quick. SOMETIMES i have them when i just dont feel like eating THATS a hard thing to imagine not feeling like eating but that happens alot after the surgery. LISA
